125's at the track today

Edited Date/Time 1/25/2012 4:11pm
I rode at a track near Atlanta today and was kind of surprised by the low turnout. The weather today was perfect, mid-70s not a cloud in the sky. Thought more people would be out riding.

Anyhow.. after a couple hours I counted six 125s on the track, a 250, a couple 80s and three 450s. I couldn't keep up with the pack of 125s but it was awesome hearing them all together.

If I had that kind of money I would invest in my business or save. I don't care what ya ride.. not meaning to start another of of THOSE threads.. Just thought it was cool that so many 125s were at the track today.

Lots more 2-strokes lately at the tracks in SoCal. Last week at Cahuilla I was surrounded by guys with 2-strokes who said they gave up their 4-strokes. And there were several on the track and around the pits also. Nice to see for sure.

I also hit up the local track today. Only about 20 guys riding between the two tracks and it was split down the middle between two and four strokes. Hella good berms on the track today. Cool

Monroe.. only 35 miles from me. Thought about Bremen or even Highland Park has a new groomed mx track.. just too far to drive.

I'll have to see where Monroe is on the map. Don't waste your time going to Highland Park if you want to ride motocross. Its could be a cool track if it had some jumps but it will kill your machine. They don't have anyway of putting water on the track and it gets dusty quick.

Bremen is ok. You should try going to AMP MX if they are ever open. Best track near Atlanta and when its open it is always prepped and watered.

The guy from HP said he just bout a huge tractor & chisel plow, and claims to plow & water his new GP track regularly.. the last time I went there (a year ago) the old mx track was abysmal. Wondering what the new GP track is like.

A lot of riders in Georgia were at the races, the BIG series was running at Pecan Valley.

A track you need to check out is the NEW Bomber track at Durhamtown. Yes Durhamtown, Barnett and Bates built an all new motocross track there this summer ( they now have 6 tracks of various levels and tons of trails). The Bomber is prepped and watered and open on the weekends.( unless racing) During the week it is prepped daily and used for training, but is closed to the public during the week from 9-3. It sounds like it would be relatively close to you if you are only 35 min from Monroe..Dtown is located near Union Point in Greene County, check Durhamtown.com for more info and directions.

I find myself riding my 2005 YZ125 more than my 2008 KTM 450xcf. I think I'm actually faster on it as well. A 450 does not generate the satisfaction a 125 does when rode a full lap on the pipe. It also makes you feel like Justin Barcia Smile

One cost 8k and the other 1.5k used...I try not to think about it.

Doesn't Durhamtown have a hefty membership fee?

Thing might last him a few years or grenade tomorrow. You just don't know. They run just fine until they go ka-boomy.

I'm looking at a ready clean 2000 KX500 for ice racing, and maybe in the summer it may see the street in Supermoto form. Woohoo

Its not a hefty membership fee - just $30 to ride on the weekends. I personally didn't like the new track, just my opinion. I would rather ride the MX2 track. The new track at D-town didn't inspire any confidence and it had a lot risk reward type jumps.

The track at Highlands has the layout to be great, but it needs more jumps.

Amp is still the best around here next to Moon's Farm.
