So the bike elligability on the website says. Current model years from 03-18.
So does that mean it's the cutoff year? And an 02 and 03 yz are the same bike...same as a few others like the rm and I'm pretty sure cr.

Theyre not the same. One is a 2002 and one is a 2003. Diff stock graphics bro.

Let in TM's, Gas Gas, Beta, Sherco, Fantic. I guess the big 5 are just afraid some boutique brands are just too bad ass.

Look at TM and Fantic. They come with all the best stuff OEM. Fantics might be the best looking bikes ever built.

'02 and '03 YZ125s are not the same bike. '03 was the first year of the 5-speed transmission.

No, Kawasaki would be 03-05 as they did not release a KX125 in 2006 (at least not in the states)

I think to make it a more serious series they wanted to put some limitation on it. Idk.

to me this should be sold as a Pro am series based off of the amateur rules which have no homologation rules. but then again im not the one putting the series on so i wont complain too much.

beggars cant be choosers

Hold on, gang, this needs rewritten: you CAN race TMs, Betas, GasGas, etc... So long as they are current models, within three years of most recent release date. This rule was about not having "vintage" bikes out there from the nineties or whatever. If it's a current, available-on-the-market 125cc dirt bike, you can race it. If it's a no-longer-in-production bike, it needs to be within three years of last release.

We will clear that up in the rules, sorry.

Thanks for clearing that up, not really clear what the "national dealer network" meant.

Is this to force dudes to buy new or used bikes that are newer?

What if say Jimmy D wanted to bring out his "Ole Reliable Over Here" CR 125 or say Lammy or Vohland on an old bike in the garage.. What would it matter?

It doesn't really force anyone to do anything.

I assume its to help the dealer network and their promotion of the current models. Makes sense for the sake of mutualism. No Jerry Robin beatdowns

Asimo, it's not a vintage race, that's all. We're not forcing anyone to do anything, we just want it to be a competitive race and allow all brands to participate, hence the three-year window for most recent release.

Bold new graphics should be banned, just like steel frames. Obvious unfair advantage.

I get it 100%, but outside of 3 years isn't really vintage when there isn't alot different on some current 125s from 10 years go. Pings magazine 125 would be ineligible being a 2014.

I appreciate you getting behind the 125 and 2 stroke movement. Nothing sounds or smells better than a gate of bumblebees coming into the first turn......so whatever it takes to make it happen, I back your decisions.

Ping and Racer X needs to get their shit together. They haven't done a single build of the current generation KTM or Husqvarna 2-strokes and the next gen is here in a few months.

I do have to say that the 2014 PC Husqvarna build looks amazing. It is probably my favorite Racer X build.

A question, who is going to race this class? Is it guys like the 125 dream race like sipes or old pros? Or will it be all up and coming kids that are trying to transition into the 250 class?

Thanks DC for clearing everything up. Yes guys it sucks that you can’t race your 10 year old project bike but wouldn’t you rather promote the sales of new 2 stroke bikes? I know I would. Cool

A question, who is going to race this class?

It's open to up-and-comers that are fast A or B riders over 16, or fast vets and retired pros like RV, Ivan, Ping, etc. The idea is to have a fun showcase for both, as well as bring a little nostalgia to the events for those of us who grew up on 125s, just as Washougal has been so successful in doing with Joey Lancaster and the Dream Race the past few years.

DC,

When will the riders know when they are selected to race. I am looking at getting a bike for the race but dont want to commit to something without knowing I will be able to race.
