Who would of thought that archaic 2 strokes only built by few manufacturers would be popular for racing ?

Edmondson 10th overall at last round of GNCC.

I don't get it though. Aren't the rules that no former XC1 pro champ can run the class? How's Paul Whibley running it? Also, I thought the rules said no XC2 pro champ from the last 4 years can run it. Didn't Jason Thomas win XC2 a few years ago? Obviously I'm wrong, but I could have sworn those were the rules.

It is getting the same attention at the track as the XC1, I figured the new would wear off a bit but 3 rounds in and everyone is still talking about the class and watch the guys very close. I've got lapped by those guys at the past two races and it gets me fired up seeing them come through. I would still like to have a solid answer why there is no room for them at the Nationals... If its time, let them run one exhibition moto during intermission, invite 20 of the regions top talent and let them go at it. I'm sure a title sponsor would step up as FMF has done in GNCC.

I wanted to post about it but if i did figured someone would bitch about me always talking about xc racing here.

Its an awesome idea, unless something changes xc1 entries will continue to dwindle. As much as 125s are talked about youd figure more than 2 major manufacturers would produce them. (Im lumping ktm/husky)

Not only is there a lot of interest in 125's at the pro level (new XC3 class), but at all other levels as well. I personally know of several guys who haveinvested big $ in totally refurbished ten year old japanese 125's to race off road. The off road racing scene includes a ton of two stroke riders, mostly orange and white bikes, and inexplicably a lot of blue bikes too, in spite of the fact that the factory support all goes to the YZ-FX bikes and the YZ two strokes are 2005 models.

But don't mention any of that too loudly, it may rile the same folks who object to "the japanese are asleep at the wheel" threads. (clueless)

Just look at the KTM and Husky two strokes, selling like hotcakes at premium prices, commanding very good resale value. Then go do a search of leftover japanese bikes, LOL, factory incentives, marked down thousands of dollars, sitting in crates . LOL. NO, the japanese are not out of touch, that is a silly idea LOL I don't even own a two stroke and really don't want to...just calling this as I see it

And speaking about dwindling XC1 entries, I don't know if that will be a huge thing because there is quite a bit of flexability where allowed bikes are concerned. four time champion Russell is racing an 250F ths year in XC1!

Now we just need a 125 class for outdoor MX racing. And let the 250s run with the 250Fs already.

Not here, rocks, mud, rocks,, single track with rocks, did I mention rocky with hills? All that adds up to a very challenging time in the woods, I don't know how I did it years ago.

Yeah, common sense rules would be nice, but Honda would not like that!

This. Sure they sounds great and who doesnt feel like a hero to hold their bike wide open in the fields, but fuck a 125 in anything muddy, slick, rough or technical. Sure its light, it also has the torque of a weed wacker. Ill take a 15lb weight disadvantage for a bike that has the balls to carry to up a hill

It may be popular with fans but with only 11 entries in the class at Georgia, it doesn't seem to be a huge hit with the riders so far.

The overall crowd at Georgia was down and compared to the XC1 and XC2... its not like they have 50 a row, but I get where youre coming from I did expect a few more to be out there

He actually didn't wanna swap between models week to week, I think he rode the 250 at the first two GNCCs and two Enduros

What does quite popular equate to in measurable terms? Already starting your non-sensical bs.

FFS, why did you add another profile to post under?

He gave up on promoting his 2 stroke mx series and started promoting guided dual sport excursions. Cant say I blame him.

Got it, thanks. I was thinking no XC1 champ could race it and Whibley won I believe in 2012.

Whibs just gets in, he won it 5yrs ago the rule says no past champ in XC1 from 2013 to current. Some young guy has won three straight so whibs isn't dominating by any means.

I believe he went back to the 350 this past Sunday but he rode the first two on the 250 to keep from swapping back and forth like montesagold said. There's an interview somewhere of him talking about it

This says 350cc for last weekend in GA

Odd. I watched the GNCC live Sunday and the announcers made multiple references to Kaliub riding a 250f. I'm not disputing what you're saying at all. That's just what they said.
