A brand new (artifical) track, about 20km from Madrid. A single-run GP, last time this was the case was at Valkenswaard.

Additional classes: EMX125 and EMX250

It's a bit sad that the GP is held at a man-made track when Spain has plenty of great tracks. But, fact is, this is a prime location. Near a European metropolis, it's own highway-exit, an incredible amount of parking lots (when audience is allowed in a normal season) and more than enough space to build a world championship-worthy track. Hopefully the terrain has a bit of elevation differences.

Happy to see a new track after 3 at the same location, but i don't really understand the logic of doing a one-off in Spain in these Corona times to be honest.

Same with the support classes, WMX does 2 races at Mantova but not a 3rd on the final sunday, while EMX 125 only does one on the final sunday. EMX 125 now has to go from Mantova to Spain for 1 race, while the WMX class comes back to italy in november for one final race. In a normal season that would be perfectly doable, but now with Covid it imo just means more people from different countries moving in and out of the paddock.

Madrid is in somekind of lockdown(cant get out or in) because rapid crow of Covid cases last weeks.
It could be last days to make this race happen if lockdown orders will follow number of cases.

It was tried to be done in circuits that already work, in Madrid there are several, but no city council supported it.

We'll see what track they do.

The situation in Madrid is complicated by Covid19, but in truth there is a lot of confusion and misinformation, due to the political dispute between the local and state governments. And the media that are all subsidized by the government of Spain

Because Madrid is the most powerful area economically and socially of Spain

And the parties that govern in Madrid are rivals of the parties that govern Spain.

The two governments accuse each other of managing Covid19 very badly

And with their rivalry they get a lot of confusion in the people, about the rules. People are not sure what they can and cannot do.

It seems that those from Madrid cannot leave Madrid, but for example the airport and train stations are still open, and they only do a simple temperature control to people, the airport and train stations are managed by the state government. Then it's open. It's all very confusing.

The government of Madrid accuses the government of Spain of not having carried out PCR controls to try to stop Covid19 at airports.

It seems that the government of Spain makes things difficult for the government of Madrid, and therefore for the people of Madrid. In his fight for political power.

Now the cases of Covid19 in Madrid are on the decline and there are enough medical means to treat the sick, but you cannot believe anything about what the press in Spain says.

Some spanish juniors testing track today and it looks just flat field with jumps.
Maybe it will look better with mxgp banners around it.

I am liking how many bars there are, weekend in Madrid seems like a plan next year.

A lot of riders/teams choose to sit out Spain and wait until Lommel a week later (no A1M Husqvarna, KTM Sarholz, Ghidinelli Racing, iXS Yamaha, JK Racing Yamaha,...)

https://ridetwice.com/exclusiva-primer-video-del-circuito-de-mxgp-de-ma… Here we see local riders testing the track!

Iker Larrañaga has been collaborating in the development of the circuit. Iker does not participate in the race because he had a very strong fall this year. But there are 3 Spanish in MXGP, 3 in MX2 and 17 more in EMX 125 and 250

looks like a local amateur track, but its better than not racing at all.

this year I think you take what you can get...

Little off topic. We have plan to travel in Italy for last MXGP round Trentino. Is there any Italian friends familiar with the current situation in the area? There are some restictions at Brennero border?

I edit the answer, wrong answer. You can get in touch with the embassy and consulates of your country in Italy, they will help you on your trip.

The GP is too far ahead to make predictions. The Italian government keeps evolving its COVID policies. If you like to have infos just a couple of days before the GP just PM me.
See you in Arco (Hopefully)

I expected something worse but that looks decent, kinda reminds me of a SoCal track. Will it be a permanent track?

Morgan Lesiardo will replace Nathan Crawford at Honda 114 Motorsports, who got a knee injury at Mantova. That's the third team this season for Lesiardo.

Don't think so. Expensive area. Probably will be dismantled after the event.

having now been to the track, it doesn't look tooooo bad.... there is a slight change in elevation (more than Red Sands, Turkey, China) and nearby there is a ski-area so it's definitely not flat

the place itself is off the back of a big shopping mall so i don't think it's encroaching on any housing right away and it'd be a great location if fans could come as it is off a main motorway exit. Better than I though it'd be and they've really ripped it deep so hopefully it'll produce good racing, but right now... can't say

As long as the racing is good, it doesnt matter, it looks like it might have a few places to pass, which will be good.

I don’t think it looks too bad. Like usual I think people just automatically assume it’s a shitty track just because it’s built up.

I wouldn't be surprised if they call it a championship after this weekend or the following one. Coronavirus cases in Italy are doubling day by day, 2 days ago we had 2500 infected and today we had 4500...
The situation in Europe is nobueno
If Cairoli wants to win the championship he better shot Gajser out of a berm😬🤣

Not sure if it will be after this weekend, but i wouldnt be surprised that they will call it quits in the next couple of weeks.
The same thing is happening in the Netherlands.

Yeah we’re on almost 6000 new infected daily here in the Netherlands now. Today will finally be my first day out the house since getting it 2 weeks ago. I also work as a chef so it’s not looking good for us. Few weeks and we’ll be in a lockdown I’m afraid. Keeping my fingers crossed for the championship.
