Has anyone tried the 100% aircraft carbon mips helmet?. I'm in the market for a new lid and this thing looks great. Any help would be appreciated. This is for MTB btw. Not sure many are into this on this site. I should have specified.

Yeah, they say not for motorized use, then you see people riding MX with a $78 poly helmet...lol. I don't know what makes it non-moto...besides the rating of course. You could ride MX with it I'm sure, just not a sanctioned race. Looks like a really awesome piece IMO.

As a guy that recently destroyed a brand new shoei and was asleep blowing dirt bubbles out of my nose while I was laying on the track. I would think twice about wearing a bicycle helmet for moto. I'm a cyclist and would never do that no matter how good that helmet looks. Just my view tho.

Oh, I agree. I may get one for MTB was my point. But it is probably better made than A LOT of MX helmets. Hitting a rock or tree at 20 mph is nothing to take lightly. This helmet is rated for downhill MTB and must be a pretty good piece. That was basically my point.

BTO has the best price ive seen on these so far.

DO NOT USE ONE FOR MOTO.

Those helmets are rated for different speeds (like the ones you can attain while pedaling a downhill bicycle.) A motorcycle can achieve a much higher velocity, and thus a higher force of impact and greater risk of head trauma. The inner liners are designed with different layers of EPS for this reason; it's also why MX helmets weigh so much more than MTB helmets.

For MTB, that 100% is sweet though. Good lid.

I just picked up a TLD Stage for my mountain bike riding. It took a little while to get used to while pedaling, but now I love it.

I actually just bought one last week (BMX racing). Went with the raw black carbon. The venting is awesome and its very comfortable. I really like the helmet case it comes with, too. The helmet case has a built-in goggle bag that fits gloves too. Only gripe is it doesn't come with an extra visor. The best prices I've seen are around $260, but that is very dependent on size. As far as sizing goes, I had to go up a size. I was a medium in the TLD D3 and had to get the large in the Aircraft.

Wait until you see the new fox helmet coming out. Looks like a MTB helmet but with fluid inside. Neat technology.

If you race on a track, I can see if not being a good idea due to collisions and such. But if you are a trail rider mostly in 2nd gear I can’t see why it would be a bad idea

I agree with crockett. I wish I could see one in person before I bought one for MTB. Just to see the OA quality.

Until the throttle sticks and you hit a tree, or you tumble down a small cliff and your bike lands on your head. Shiz happens, fellas. Dress for the crash, not the ride.
