$10,000 Pro purse here at Desoto MX in Louisiana this weekend. So far it looks like John Short will be the man to beat.

I've always wondered about these races.. is this 10k split between 20 riders??

Or the winner gets 10k and it $$ goes down from there??

It’s the pure for 250 pro and 450 pro combined. I think winner gets like $2100 or so

Very curious, hope we hear about results. I would think any local pro's not at Red Bud would show.

What's up with free entries? Tell us more about this track?

It’s a fun track. World champ Trampus Parkers son Ricky Parker owns the track. As you can imagine it’s got a euro flair to it IMO. Great dirt and track flows really well. Ricky does a lot of great things for our state. Puts in multiple series.

The free entry thing was from monster entergy. They sponsored the event and allowed us to race two classes for free.

Having watched Chad roosting Rio Bravo and Conroe in the 80's, hearing about his son running tracks makes me feel damn old! Post up some video of the race if you can.

I know several top Texas pros that are at Red Bud this weekend. That definitely opens the door for some other riders to pick up some cash this weekend.

Was talking with a younger rider about this recently. It's a foreign concept these days, but back in the day, local pros could actually make a living just riding dirt bikes on the weekend. I remember standing line to pick up my little plastic trophies while the top three were getting pretty decent envelopes, and that was just the regular saturday night races, not even a state/regional series race.

The track is awesome! We would be there if I didn’t have plans for July 4th. I hope they have it next year.

Should be 25 in each. I’m disappointed in the next gen of A riders. I’m getting old.

Do pros still race both classes at these things? I see a few but it used to be the way to go.

There are a lot of guys that can’t afford two $9k motorcycles. It’s tough for A riders because

1. One 250f gets roached quick but you can race both classes
2. One 250 two stroke is solid but disadvantaged in the start against both 4 strokes
3. One 450 lasts all year but you can only race one class.

Pick your poison. There is no perfect choice.

One Pro class is plenty with the amount of entries they have these days.

Folks aren't worried about that purse, we're riding for the fun of it. There are more entries on practice days than at most races. It's just the way it is round here.

Until formats change it will be the same. Why pay more, and wait more, to ride around by yourself just like practice. WAY TOO MANY CLASSES and gate drops. And having spectators watch from a 1/2 mile away...

Where you from? In Louisiana most races get over 200 entries and desoto had over 300 earlier this year. Way more people show up for a race.

Thibodaux. It literally states it next to my profile. I ride have ridden all the local tracks for over 20 years, New Iberia, Breaux Bridge, Kentwood 1 and 2, Amite 1 and 2, Hammond, Avondale, Z-Man, High Rollers and Rivers Edge, Arcola, Gatorland, Bayouland. Not until just recently have the turnouts at races exceeded 200 per, for the last 10+ years turnouts at the races have been very low. Not since the winter series that the Burgerses were hosting have the numbers been what they are presently. It's a fact that the total amount of practice riders on any given weekend far exceeds what any race draws but i do agree that as of late it has been trending upwards. Their are a few promotors that are gaining traction and it looks promising. But I'm pretty certian the majority of Louisiana riders are Professional Practicers.

This is just my opinion, but the last race at hammond ran a very successful format that gave every rider 2 twenty min practice sessions and one 10-15 min moto depending on class. Everyone had a about an hr of seat time and we were home before 4pm.

1 moto? Unless the track is very mild, most riders are toasted by 4 laps. 3 moto’s solves that issue while adding seat time but lengthening the day.

I love seeing these type races happen.

Myself and a couple other business owners have discussed putting a race on with this type payout or higher. Have a race at Sandy Oaks in Keithsburg, IL where they held a national back in the 70’s. Would be a test of anyone’s endurance.

We aren’t getting 200 bikes a day at practice. That’s a fact and I “literally” didn’t look at your profile. Just wanted

No need to look up profile, just look to the left under the picture. Not sure how it comes across on a phone but on a computer it shows the location of user. Your's states Denham. On any given weekend there are more riders practicing at Louisiana tracks than at a race. Most tracks average between 60-100 riders on any given day with 3-5 tracks operating at the same time. 300+ is rare for a race around here but a step in the right direction.
