That pretty much nailed it! I keep trying but probably this Barcia shot from 2011 is at close as I got.

Nice shot Jeff! The second corner(and the rest of the track) at Unadilla isn't like the old days like in Fran's photo of Johnny O when it was nice loam you could berm off of. I rode Unadilla back in July at a amateur race there, the second corner was tricky, so fast and hard packed with very little traction. It was still fun though. Sorta. lol

If that was Saddleback in 1981 you would see the track! You would see the levels that eventually became "suicide hill." You would see the highschool track, the flat track. You would see the entrance shack where Micky Dymond's sister collected fees. You would see the rental building, the announcers building above webco hill and the scorekeepers stand at the finish...and only one road going past it with a fire station across the street. I was looking for any landmark to spark my vivid memories of Saddleback back in 1981...there aren't any....
I’m with you on this. I can’t see banzai or the rest of the main track. Maybe someone can mark the main features? I haven’t been near for 40 years, mind you.

Man that pic is gnarly, I remember it from reading dirt rider as a kid.. Fuck launching a 92 CR250 (or whatever it was) that high and flat landing into those horrible looking bumps

It's Danny Smith jumping a quad at the Anaheim 2 SX in 2000.

The photo file name says Lytle_sx, its number 32 on a 2-stroke Honda. Its Casey Lytle if its titled correctly

Edit, I just watched the video clip Maverick posted, it is Danny Smith, Mav is right as usual Smile

It’s always been 2 vs 4, thanks to the diehards before the rule changes.

If not it may be wrong? But where/when else could it be?
It closed in 1984...

What an awesome thread there are so many great pictures in here. For whatever reason though that’s pretty much run-of-the-mill picture seems to really grab the feeling when we first started
