Any words on Monticelli's physical condition ? Because he didn't ride the second moto...
I would say a bit battered & bruised, least he rode away.

Medical flag for last laps MXGP was probably Sihvonen #147 with separated shoulder.

I agree. No places to make an huge difference. Gajser rode brilliant though!

What a weak field. Tim from last to 9th on 1st lap, Lupino couldnt even get top ten in USA and gets 4th oa

I was thinking that it’s weekends like this that make the mxgp guys that much more impressive. Guys we’re still going hard in challenging conditions while the AMA series get nothing but nicely groomed tracks with similar conditions most weekends yet they still find things to complain about.

No wonder the skill levels are more apparent come mxdn (or when euro riders do well in the states)

Definitely looking to start trouble, aren't you?

Can't say I don't wish Lupino could have rode Thunder Valley too... Would have made the comparison a bit more fun.

TG243 was on fire.... Class of the field for sure.

Gajser went from last to first easily. Guy will win the series again.

One thing we know now: Lupino is better than Seewer and Prado but worse than Craig

Agreed, it looked like a Russian version of ungroomed weekday Broome Tioga practice lol.

Yep and it's what I love about the GPs! This week hard, dry, dusty and not fun, next week chocolate cake goodness, week after, hills and moist hard pack.. Gotta be good at it all..

That said I wasn't a fan of Russia at all and I can't say it's ever a good idea to put a tabletop in the middle of a dry, dusty, off camber, fast sweeper haha
Looks like a cool paddock area and shit though

Yeah this was extremely impressive. The way he came up to Herlings, passed him and gapped him almost effortless.

Looks like Watson had 2 crashes in the first moto and another in the second.

Looking forward to Matterley now, 1st race nerves should be gone. Hopefully Rollie didn't pick up any injuries he looked like the next best man to Gasjer before he went down.

You're right Febvre did look good, I'm sure Malin said he set the fastest lap with 3 or 4 laps to go.

2nd Moto Tiga Cam:

It's quite a good track. Not every (well, definitely not) track should be "Chocolate Cake".

Hard pack is Natural. Outdoor MX, should reflect that, and the geography / geology of a region.

I would have thought a few of the people who seem to just live to slag track GP tracks, might have had their eyes opened by the Colorado National this year. Hard packed, polished sections, a bit of dust coming up from rear wheels, and not just an endless slot car track that's caused by deep, deep tilling. It was a welcome thing to see.

Orlyonok : ruts, in some sections, still developed, but not the seemingly endless, near 'all the track', that comes from some set ups.

As I've written quite a few times, I can't imagine the squealing from many, if modern racing was held on a tracks as (deservedly) venerated as Saddleback and Carlsbad. Seriously challenging tracks, with seriously challenging surfaces, that would have so many whining like a baby without it's favourite dummy in it's gob.

I like the Russian track. It's freaking sketchy but everyone knows that and has to find the limits of the track. And i thought they made some good changes to make it safer to this year.

Go to 30 seconds in, to see Herlings have a bit of a "lose" of the front end (and, well, the back end), in this video showing ACs predicament :

https://youtu.be/J9ijX_C_qy8

I'd say that's what befell all prangers over that jump.

A few pranged, a lot didn't. That lead up to and face of the jump was the same for all. A bit of a bump at the base of the jump ramp - combined with a shed load of speed and throttle - to set Herling's moment off, and a hard, hard surface . BlinkDizzy

Anyone know who, and the condition of, the bloke that was on the RH side of the jump for a while? He was there for quite a while - I hope he is OK.

Not really a Gajser fan, not sure why. That said, I was impressed, narly track and he really put his head down going to the front.
