InFront released the provisional entry lists for the first GP of the new season, in 3.5 weeks time.

After two years the format changes to a two-day weekend again, with practice and qualifying on Saturday, and the races on Sunday.

Additional classes are EMX125 and EMXOpen. Because EMX250 doesn't start yet, there are some wildcards in MX2-class, like Bonacorsi, Elzinga, Oliver and McLellan.

proud of the czech and slovak bois giving it a go especially in EMX classes and MX2 this year.

in MX2 Polak and Terešák would be great if they can crack the top15 but unfortunatel i think they are not destined to be above average result-wise.

in EMX125 i'm interested if the starts will bail out Mikula with a few top 10 finishes even this year. Marek should make a big step if he stays healthy.

in EMX-OPEN i would bet money on Jošt. He is flying under the radar all the time but he is fast as fuck boiii !!! Him, Brad Anderson and Micha Boy de Waal are the contenders for me.
Drdaj needs to start well enough and if his mind is in the race he can score TOP5, that boi could reel in Jose Butron at the end of the motos in here ...
We will see if Krč will be ready - he has slower starts of the seasons and suffers from arm pump long term.
Vašíček will be lucky to qualify but hey he can only surprise.
I am scared about Venhoda - he got the talent but spent last 3 years sidelined with injuries - he should be top 15 guy in EMX250 on paper ... hopefully the big bike will not do him much harm.
Also should be great to see Bence Szvoboda back on bike. That guy could haul multiple asses like 5 years back. especially on 250... It is just sad to see so many hungarians leaving/burning out of the sport in last few years. Hope he does well.

in EMX250 there is Wagenknecht on factory TM. That fella is smartfast - aka fast when it counts. He should ride around TOP10 in the class but we will see after few rounds of italian mx.
The other czech guy in EMX250 is Petr Rathousky. That guy is Yang to Wagenknecht's Ying. (they also had a few last lap battles the past season) Flashy, hungry and fast but struggled on slippery hard tracks without ruts forming easily. We will see. They should be equal.

Either way. It is good to be mx fan from the middle of europe ... hell it is good to be fan of mx in general. Let the racing comence.

Hopefully the weather stays a bit decent over that week/weekend. Nobody wants to start the season in a big mud hole, but to go around that time in the UK you might ask for itw00t

@last braap: what is the reason Jost is doing 450 and not mx2? He is 20 or something right?
He impressed me a lot in open, if he could translate his 450 speed to mx2 he could get good results imo.

Well i can only guess but he is still under 23yo. On the other hand he is not MM25-built he is more like AJ27-built so 450 should suit him. The reason he is not in mx2 is most likely he is not willing to burn 150k euro a year for a ride in sketchy italian team for 1 year. He is like 8 years in his current team (team mates Tomáš Kohút, Martin Krč) which decided to give EMX races a try this year.

Well, yesterday on instagram he posted he was hoping to be back on the bike in a few weeks…

I think we can say his title hopes are over before the season has even started.

|

1/26/2022 4:17 AM

Well hopefully the weather is decent enough, have decided to hotel it, as there will only be 2 of us, which is a shame, last time they ran early doors , the pits got destroyed by a storm.. i hope we dont have that

Looking forward to a 2 day GP format again.

I was considering going, but am also concerned about the weather. Last time I was at Matterly was for the 17 or 18 des Nations. It rained all weekend. Just when I though Saturday was bad, it poured extra heavy the Sunday morning. It was a slop fest. The one thing that was entertaining was the graveyard of cars stuck in the mud.
Think I may just enjoy it from the comforts of the couch.

Yes true, but he hasn’t been able to ride and train like he would and should since the end off November. So to catch up to his best version at the end off last season in 4 weeks seems pretty impossible. Also joining a new team with different people and who knows the bike has different parts to it..

Hopefully he will make round 1 and can catch up because the racing is just better with Febvre in it.

No there's not, second round is on March 6th (venue still TBA). Argentina switched dates and is now held as round 3 on March 20th.

I agree that it must suck for Febvre with basically no preparation but it's also a long season. Anything can happen and every point counts in the beginning.

Also really excited to see Evans back at it and specially how many races he needs to be back in old form. I think he is back on the back since late october.

With Telford Show and Hawkstone the week before, its going to be a good couple of weeks.

Hopefully everything will go well for Febvre and is not rushing into things and gets injured again. With all the heavy hitters being healthy and you need to ride you’re self into shape will be tough.

Yeah normally Evans should be a top 5 guys but missing a year must be rough. Hopefully he can stay healthy to because that’s one off his problems so far here in Europe.

At this point Elzinga will be racing MX2 when there is no EMX250, except for the fly away races overseas.

I am very interested to see how Lapucci will fare on the 450.

They have a 5 year deal, hopefully they will have a race in the TBA later in the year.

Green Fuckwittery is all over Europe , balance of power held my a minority means they get what they want no matter who wins.

Thibault Benistant won't line up at Matterly, as he's still recovering from a knee operation. He just started with bicycle training. The goal for him is to be back at the 3rd round, March 20th at Argentina.

Unreal luck for the #MXGP world champion again. Innocuous crash apparently, another foot injury at RedSands after the accident in 2019. Herlings should find out the severity of his left foot tonight but that should mean 2 out of the 3 2021 title contenders won't make the 1st GP.
