Would you buy a new 09 for $800 less than a new '10?

Brother is coming off an '06yz250f and debating on which bike.

What are best fixes for the 09 bike? I hear the silencer on this bike is very restricted and a aftermarket one will open it up a lot.

I just scored an 09' 3 weeks ago for $3500. Less than 10 hours on the bike. Came with an aftermarket exhaust. I like it WAY better than a friends 2011! I also rode a friends 09' with the stock exhaust and the aftermarket made the 09' a whole new bike. The 09' had all the bugs refined, the 10' has all the bugs un-refined.

Go with the 10. the 09 is basically a fixed up 06. might as well spend the money on an upgraded the 06 rather than on a whole new bike. the 06 has more power stock than the 09 because of that super restricted exhaust and you' ll spend the 800 on the exhaust to make it as fast as the 2010. and trust me you ll love the EFI

the 09 would have to be $2000 cheaper to be worth it.

The 09 handles better then the other years ... put a pipe and a 06 exhuast cam in and you have a good bike... Grant one a SX on one,and the other Grant won a Ntaional outdoor title on one.. there good bikes..

I have an '09 and I like. I moved up from a 125 and I didn't have any problem adjusting to it.

No....

Definitely go with the 20110..its the current generation, a better handling bike, and EFI...

With either bike when you roll it out the dealers door it becomes a several year old bike. Based strictly on this used value......KBB has the 09 dealer used retail at $4160.....dealer used 2010 is $5315

The yamaha 450 in my opinion is the most bulletproof bike! If i was a budget racer I would buy a yamaha. I have a honda and i love it but i would be nervous riding one with more than 40 hours on the crank. If you have the money to maintain a suzuki they are good too.

I have a 09 and love it installed a exhaust and jet kit bike rips i have ridden the 2010 and it just seems too wired for me comming off the 09 but like anything you will get used to it. but in todays times i would spend less and safe the extra cash. comming from a 250f the 09 in stock trim will feel like a monster to him.
