09 May be Stewarts last Hurrah!!

Kind of Ironic that both Chad Reed and James Stewart are both out of the SX series with Hand injuries that required surgery. I also believe Stewart has really put himself in a pickle by deciding to sign this SX only contract, because now it's going to be almost a full year without any racing under his belt and Dungey, Hill and Villopoto are only getting faster, so next year Stewart will be racing a more confident and experienced Dungey with less racing time on a bike. This particular wrist injury to the Scaphoid can take a long time to heal if not allowed to heal properly, had a friend that broke this exact same bone mountain biking and he's never been able to hold onto the handlebars the same ever since. Anyways, if everything goes right, it'll be healed in 6 to 8 weeks, just in time for him to start getting ready for the Outdoor NationalsSmile He should re-think this SX only thing if he ever wants another one of those #1 plates.

And you'll take even longer to catch James.

Stick with the pedal bikes, you idiot.

Stewart will always be the fastest guy on the track. Racing the outdoors would not of prevented his dumbass move that got him hurt in SX.

I think that '09 could actually be the last year both Chad Reed and James Stewart got a title.

Yeah, irony is sometimes a painful bitch.

The theory about Stewart being out of racing for a year doesn't really hold water though. He will continue to ride at his compound after his wrist is healed. We all know Stewart can practice faster than most go in an actual race so...

Stewart will be back and exciting as ever when he returns!

... but i think with Pourcel moving up next year he's gonna have it harder!!!

I think you might be right... Judging by his speed last year outdoors, I think it would be very unlikely that Chad could successfully defend his title.

He has a two year contract though, wonder if there any options written in it for the second year...

If you look at James's big bike SX history he is basicly SX only every 2 years.

2005,2008 and now 2010 all ended by injury.

He will be lucky to catch up to RC's SX record let alone MC's.

Bubba will have to race until he's eligible for Social Security to even get close to the amount of Wins and Championships RC got in his 10 year career.

until the promoters figure out a way for the riders to get a real payout at the outdoors i have always wondered why any professional (other than the top 3 finishers) would waste thier time racing the outdoors......now i would have to agree that it seems the lack of racing/starts for stewart from being in the outdoors seems to have hurt him!

I guess nothing has changed since he continues doing stupid things that endanger other riders. James is all about James and his ego. Maybe sitting on the sidelines will help deflate that ego and show James there are other riders on the track.

I'm sure we will get another lame azz home video in the coming weeks with Brook's prima donna spin on.

This is a good place to post this, but "immature" James is what got him hurt. He has matured a lot since he first began, and his PR manager mentions that in his videos, but when he stalled his bike in the first corner of the PHX Heat, he went back to his old ways. What I mean by that, is that he got WAY TOO aggressive, and decided to hit a triple 7mph faster than everyone else. He has showed a lot of patience this year, A1, and some of last season, but old habits are hard to break, and the old Stewart resurfaced during the Phoenix Heat Race. Unfortunately for him and Kyle Partridge, it cost them big-time. More so Stewart, since he was defending his title. Kind of ironic that Phoenix has taken him out of a series two times now.

With that said, I am bummed he is out of the series, and wish him a fully and speedy recovery.

Whipping Reeds ass won't be enough anymore. You may be able to beat Reed and still not end up on the podium by the time they all come back.

Only thing I would point out is that at that level if you get the slightest bit rusty from time off it can cause you to make a dumb split second mistake. Nobody can ever say for certain that James time off caused his mistake. Mainly becase he has a track record of making the same kind of mistakes, and those mistakes happened even when he was riding outdoors.

Actually it's more like a pair of weeks short of it being exactly 4 years between their births. But yes, Stewart isn't by any definition old just because he's a veteran among the big boys.

But his age is kind of beyond the point if he'll constantly wad himself up to the point where he's too hurt to ride. I hope this bad streak of his ends now after this, I want to see him fight for more championships like he did in 09. And I'd love to see him race outdoors again. Sad
