04 RM250 cylinder stress cracks ?

Edited Date/Time 12/22/2013 7:46pm
Has anyone seen this? Any idea of the cause, how to fix ? The bike started to run lean last week, found these cracks on both sides of the cylinder in about the same area. Thanks

Dont know how to repair but i know some factory teams modiffy the tie tbetween the frame and the cilynder head because the steel frame flexes and causes the head to crack. I could be the same cause

Not sure who assembled it, but not torquing bolts down right could have been a cause. When was the last top end done?

WowBlink ...never seen that before. That is very odd, I'd toss it and get a different one like the other member suggested.

Definitely use a torque wrench when you assemble the top end. If you did use one, then I don't know what would cause that, weird.

i've seen it before with a cr250. guy had ti welded and kept on using it for a long time. I personally would just get a new cylinder.

I could buy the freeze factor, even being that you're in Georgia. It can get cold here at night. But I highly doubt the torque is the problem. I've worked on these Rm's for 12 years and never used a torque wrench for cylinders or jugs. There is something else happening.
