Got a buddy that wants to sell me his 01 CR500. Low hours, always maintained, etc. etc. one owner. He doesn't know what it's worth and neither do I. How much should I offer in good faith?
The Shop
Have your bud PM me and make sure it goes to a safe home.
dont pay a dime more than 3000
id be willing to bet even a ratted out cr500 is in better shape mechanically than 99% of the 125s & 250f's out there
if no one buys it i just may.
there's a ton of them on cragslist and bikefinds.com

i think insane one is trying to justify what he paid for his badass af500. maybe he can post up some vid of him riding it to show everyone just how "sik" it is....
here's a couple 01's on bikefinds little pricey i think, but to each his own. i'd personally get a kx500 if i was in the market

A very clean 01 in the UK will go for 5000 dollars. An untouched one or as new will go between 7-12000 dollars.
If you could get me a bunch of very clean 01's and very clean 89's I would be interested in doing a deal with anyone at the right price of course.
For example

Mine was in better shape that this one when I got it:

I don't think that bike will sell for anywhere close to the buy it now price, especially due to the tank and it being a '97 instead of an '01.
some day soon i will be looking for another motor, if not a whole bike. an 01 would be cool. and yes for the right bike i would pay 2500-3000 in a second. but this is a pet project and i am not ready to start on that yet.
Really, somewhere around 1,700 to 2,000. Bikes from the 90's typically get right around 1k around here. But, there is certainly added value to it being a 500. I sold a nice (not perfect) 1994 KX500 for $1500 recently.
a friend just purchased a 03 kx250 for $1200 the thing couldnt have had 1 hour on the bike, every piece on the bike including swing arm stickers didnt have a scratch on them and the bike runs flawlessly
Two strokes are especially cheap since the demand for used ones is so low. Look at craigslist in any major city and you will find them, when spring/summer comes the number will only increase.
