Just bought a 2011 yz125 that has a sleeved cylinder that’s been bored +2mm to a 134. I would rather have an original 125 cylinder for a few races that I want to try. Just wanting to entertain the idea of trading for an 05+ original sized cylinder. If it needs replating then I may be able to deal with that as well.

I will buy it outright if possible

Sorry I didn’t have all the info up front but this was more or less just to gauge interest to see if anyone was interested. I was planning on trading/selling the whole kit (cylinder, powervalve, head) for a original bore cylinder. The cylinder is sleeved.

Turns out the cylinder has a scar in it and isn’t in as good of condition as I thought. I have a local mechanic who has worked with steel sleeves for a while so I will take it to him tomorrow afternoon and update you all on what he recommends. The scar is not deep so the sleeve should be able to be reused after it’s bored.

That being said here are the options I’m thinking of
I can have him bore the sleeve to a 144 then trade/sell.
I can trade/sell then whoever takes it can get someone to install a new sleeve or bore the current one.

I’m fine with either option so if you are interested and have a preference then let me know.

I’m pretty sure getting to 144 on a yz125 requires clearancing the case if I remember correctly.

You may be right. I never have tried to do it but just assumed maybe that would be the solution. I’ll know more once I talk to the mechanic that has some more experience with them. I do believe the sleeve should be able to be reused though since the scratch is not all that deep.
