Very cool to see one of these bikes still out there. I picked up an 04 model that was Chads practice bike in 05 through an acquaintance of Larry Brooks. Similar PC engine specs.. GLWS..

Is that just like a flat washer welded on tip of silencer or is there more to it on the inside?

Saw that on DV’s bike build also, don’t think the production ones are like that?

It's a little ring welded into the silencer stinger to reduce the inside diameter. It actually is meant to gain a little rev back as the silencer is a shorty. I've seen this done quite a bit back in the day.

Dynodan22 is exactly right. Bc the shorty is shorter in length & less restrictive you can reduce the diameter of the tip to add a little bit of back pressure for more over-rev. If you look inside the end of the older shorty silencers you can see / feel a ridge where Mitch has one build in. FMF actually sells replacement tips with different diameters for this exact reason.
