Looking for a stock ECU for a 2019-2022 KX450. I'm ok if it is flashed. Thanks

I didn't. I found one on EBAY listed at $350, which is more than I wanted to spend. I have a vortex on my 2022 SR and I put the OEM SR ECU onto my 2019 which is for sale. I had made a bit of mistake selling the stock ECU from the 2019 as a package deal with my ProCircuit Exhaust. The only reason I'm looking for another is I'm curious to see how the 2022 SR ECU works given the rave reviews of the bike. I've not ridden the 22 yet (winter in MN). If I get the 2022 out before I sell the 2019, I will run it a bit with the OEM ECU.

I would think you will want to take off and keep the oem SR ecu before selling the 19 as it was supposed to be mapped for the exhaust and head work on the SR.

agree. the 19 is ported and running a CP piston, so I'm not worried about how that will run with the ECU from the SR. Whomever buys it will be thrilled with how it runs (except for it has the OEM exhaust).

I was just looking at it from the headache of trying to find another oem SR ecu when you get ready to sell it unless you were going to sell it with the vortex.

agree. i regret including the OEM ECU from the 19 when I sold the exhaust. That said, I will deal with it 3-4 years from now when I sell the SR.

How did the Vortex perform? Did you run it as-is or have an aftermarket shop remap it?
Also, was the power increase from porting and piston noticeable on your ‘19? Thanks!

The Vortex was bought from TokyoMods with their map package. After getting the TPS set correctly, it worked great. What I like most is the adjustability. The overall package was a very significant increase over stock. I had a PC piston, PC Cams, PC exhaust, porting and the Vortex. I put the cams into the SR along with a CP 14:1 piston and the Vortex, so basically the same package. I had the SR head ported (I posted some pics of the SR head as "ported" by Kawasaki which has some spots cleaned up, but very minimal compared to a complete job).

Thanks, PC told me their package of piston, cams, porting, ECU, exhaust increased power out by 30%, which on a 55hp stock bike brings it up 16hp more? Did your bike feel like it had 70hp, or did PC speak in error? Did you have to go to a roller bearing crank, or a stronger con rod? Thanks, I’m considering a package similar to yours and appreciate unbiased feedback…

The package retained the stock characteristics, but had more power across the full range. It is very linear and "connected" and easy to ride from my perspective. It is hard to guess how much additional HP it had at peak. 70 seems much higher than I would expect. My guess would be 60-65. I ran the package with a Tokyo Mods flashed OEM ECU for a season before buying the vortex. I didn't think that the Vortex increased the HP significantly, but obviously the adjustability is there, which I would tweak all the time running different maps and minor adjustments leaner or richer depending on the day.

I did not touch the bottom end. I am a 55 year old Sr and would say at an intermediate level simply doing practice days, so I didn't see myself putting extended high RPM, heavy loads on the motor and wasn't worried about over-stressing it.

My assumption (I've never researched it) is that the plain bearing crank would be significantly more durable than a roller crank. The thoughts about upgrading the rod make sense, but going to a roller crank doesn't make sense to me.

Race Tech engine services has a KX450 engine package that features a modified head porting application verified with flow bench data, HC piston, stock cams (tried PC cams, no difference on dyno) mapped Vortex, FMF exhaust that produced an 18% power increase. They recommended going to a roller bearing rod setup based on “reports from top level racing requiring attention” per the racetech.com site.
