I have a 2005 CRF450R and My header is creased/bent and dented. I thought I found a used FMF titanium Megabomb and purchased it (guy swears that it came off of his 2008 CRF450R, looking up the part number, its actually for a much 2014-16 CRF250R, not even close to fitting). The search continues and I am having a really hard time finding ANYTHING to fit the bike, either new or in decent condition/used. I called FMF and they say that they should be getting some in stock at end of May 2021. I have purchased a cheap ebay aftermarket one that is supposed to come in a week, but I’d like a better quality one and not have to wait until June 2021.

So If anyone has a Titanium, or stainless FMF Megabomb, that would be first choice, if not, I would also consider a Powerbomb or other aftermarket headers (in good condition). Doing a bit of restoring my old bike and there are only a couple pieces of the puzzle left. Thanks

Just noticed that my thread is a grey color. Does this mean it’s not active? Posted in wrong area?

Grey text instead of Red text just means that you've read that thread.

If it's Red either you haven't read the thread at all or something new was added to it.

The 2005 Header is different from 2006 - 07. Honda rotated the engine slightly so the header is longer on the 2005. I have a new take off 2005 I believe. Let me know if you are still looking and I’ll post up some pics.

You sure? Maybe it’s just a small thing as all the aftermarket companies seem to show 04-08 as the same part number, so maybe they are close enough?

Yeah. The 2005 stock exhausts are the hot ticket for 05-18 CRF450X guys to lighten up their bikes and get some more top end. 2006+ have to be modded to fit. That’s why 2005 stock exhausts are hard to come by. Search it up and you’ll find a bunch of guys in the x forums detailing it. I’ll take some comparison pics next time I’m in the shop.

Ya. I was aware of that as well. They are much much lighter than the X pipe and header, that being said, not sure why they don’t also buy aftermarket, but when you really look at it, they are getting headers for under $100 and the muffler/midpipe for around $100, which makes it a pretty good proposition.

I do know an exhaust (he specializes more in cars) exhaust welder, I’m almost tempted to buy a stainless megabomb for a different 450 and have him weld and bend it to the generic stainless one getting on ebay. Idk. Just thinking of options. The stuff shouldn’t be this hard to find. Btw. There are tons of the FmF headers avail for all the other bikes.

Wow. The “eBay special” arrived in one day. Doesn’t look too bad (although I am not an expert metalergist and not sure how to inspect quality of the stainless or the overall quality, but the welds don’t look too bad).
