WP AER forks 48mm

For sale a set of WP Aer 48mm forks.
Taken off a 2016 KTM SXF 450.
Only used a couple of times, approx 5 hours, then they were swapped for CV's, serviced with 2017 interior seals and put on the shelf, one lug has some scratches from the rock (see photo), other than that decent condition.
No roost marks on tubes, upper or lower.

Not interested in buying, but why is there a Schrader on the bottom?

So you can make sure the pressure in upper and lower chamber is equal. There was an issue with 2016 model AERs that caused inconsistency in the air pressure between chambers. Internal parts were updated and the valve at the bottom was added so you can always check if the pressure in both chambers equalizes.

Hmm I must not be understanding you.. There is only one air chamber on the oem AER fork, and if you were to tap and put a schrader on the bottom then you're either putting pressure outside of the chamber, so pressure on the fork seals or underneath the x ring in the chamber which would cause the fork to collapse or get stuck?

WP AER 48 forks technically have 3 chambers, outer, inner and balance just like a Showa TAC but there is a bypass in the inner chamber that charges the balance chamber when setting the inner chamber pressure releaving the need to set the balance chamber pressure but you are also assuming that the bypass worked. Seems the op. has just added a way to check that pressure without assuming that it balanced out on its own by tapping into the piston rod and most likely incorporating air holes on the piston nut. I like it!

That is correct, thank you for explaining in a more understandable manner!
When they were sent out to be updated and serviced a suspension tech put the valve there, and he had tons of testing on the AERs, and have seen some failures due to extended use with uneven pressure between chambers. It's an additional tool to verify that the forks work correctly, without disassembling them.

Learn something new every day! Thanks for explaining that, I had no idea that below the piston was a balance and needed a correct pressure. Pretty neat
