Years ago, many rmz450s ruined engines because they ran a plastic T coupler inbetween fhe radiator hoses and it melted and the coolant clogged, the bike over heated and then died.

They sold that T hose on bikes for years

Any of you guys get these gears ? Looking for feedback , but this thread has been eerily silent.
I ended up grabbing a set of these for my 21 350 XCF and installing them wasn't too bad. I had a 2017 KTM 350 SXF a few years ago that I never had issues (sold at 105 hours), and have many friends that ride the 250 and 350 bikes that did not or have not had the failures with many hours of abuse. One friend wasn't so lucky and his failed with under hours. The weird part is his bike wasn't ridden and abused like the others mentioned first. I figured the little price to pay up front for peace of mind was better than wondering if my gears were going to be one of those that did end up failing and costing me much more in the long run. Only a short ride time on them so far so I don't have much input other than TrOy got them sent to me quickly. Thumbs up to a great Vital MXer

Hey are you still making these? I was wondering if that smaller gear was still plastic on the 2022's, I bought thew Nihilo billet gear but have seen nothing about the smaller one and have yet to open up the motor for the install.

I might be interested in buying one if so!

Hey Guys, resurrecting this thread. 2021 ktm 350sfx 120hrs, top end just freshend up at 110hrs. Noticed my last oil change I have some black plastic bits in my oil, pulled clutch assy out to inspect the 2 plastic gears, they look perfect. No bits in clutch cavity. So possible the other plastic oil pump gear on the left side of engine, just below the shifter? I want to inspect it, can the gear be removed without splitting the cases? Thanks….

hey @sandman768 so the plastic gears look great till they don't. It is a very sudden failure when they go.

To see them they are under the clutch basket. If you have questions please PM or post here... I do watch this thread.

I found the problem… the shop that did the top end left a locating pin from somewhere in the engine! It ended up breaking the inner oil pump rotor on the inside left side case! I pulled the valve cover, appears to be oil in the top end still, cam lobes look good but I”m not a 4T guy so, not sure what to do next….looks like cam journals have to be inspected?

I would at least pull the cam cap and see how those bearing surfaces look. Make sure you re torque it correctly. From personal experience the cam goes down first if there isn’t enough oil flow.
