MAP = minimum advertised pricing Something manufacturers do to make sure their distributors are all on an even playing field. But again, it's not the minimum price they can SELL it at - just the minimum price they can advertise it at. Some of the larger distributors could afford to advertise a low price and take a low profit margin in exchange for selling large volumes - which would put the smaller shops, who can't justifying accepting the same low margins as the big guys, at a disadvantage
