My father had this bike in his basement and rarely rode it. Unfortunately I'm having to sell it, but I'm not sure what it's worth?

You'll probably get more response from a vintage motocross facebook group or site.
I don't have a clue it's value, but really cool bike!

You have an extremely low hour bike , I would say maybe 9hrs ! I sold mine exact same condition except it was a Fox Factory bike meaning Fox , swingarm, fox airs, 44 Fox factory forks and many more trick parts to a very well known MX Guru for $18,000 your bike is worth $7,000 to the right person no problem!!!

Wow, I had no idea it could be worth so much! I was thinking maybe a few thousand.

Thanks for your reply!

I wouldn't sell that for less than 4k. But you can probably get more

Easily more than $4K. There are very few examples of unrestored 78-79 CR250s in as good shape as this one is. This is a prize bike, a big part of Honda MX history, and equally importantly, a highly competitive bike for vintage racing. You'll have no problem eliciting offers for this bike.

Thanks for all the advice! Is there way to tell if it is all original? I don't have a way of finding the full history on it.

Looking at the pictures, it looks to me to be an all-original, low hour bike. I owned a 78 in the day, and other than the number plate mounts, this seems original down to cables, bolts, plastic, fork boots, etc. You have quite an item there.

This would be perfect a great display at a nice honda dealer

Very nice bike. Looks to be mostly all there. It does not have the original “claw action” tires anymore. Also the rear sprocket looks worn from the photo, I see a distinct C shape in the teeth, though that could be the angle of the photo. Looks like the tank has a few dents. I’d put the value between 3500-4000.

Call me silly if you want. I’d put a 7k price tags in that thing! That bike is original. You cant find those parts, in that great if shape to build that bike. Original tires it looks like. You need to have it graded by the actions. You could seriously get 5-7k. I own two 78’s and 79’s. I would do just about anything to have that bike.
