Battery assist bicycles? Yes. The Shimano motor seems to be the most "thumbs up" version in the bicycle world, but Bosch is also very good. Most of the bike companies are making great e-bikes now, so you can take your pick.
I rode a friend's Commencal Meta Power, and I loved it.

The new QT motor is virtually silent. Shimano needs to step up their game.

The class 1 ebikes are allowed to go almost everywhere regular mtbs can go now. Class1 is 1hp max but remember it is pedal assist can get a great workout and fly up and down the hills. I been riding this Pole Voima from Finland. Fully CNC machined frame is beautiful. 190mm travel f/r. Bosch motor.

Got a YT core 3 decoy 29’er for Christmas.  I’ve been riding 3-4 days a week after work and really like it.  There’s tons of trails near my house, I’m riding new stuff all the time and haven’t even scratched the surface of the trails around here, I’m pretty enthused and am getting more comfortable on it. A  lot of the trails are overgrown with all the rain we’ve been getting so I’ve gotten good at riding with my fingers holding the brake levers so the brakes don’t get put on while we’re plowing through bushes lol. It’s good stuff. As of today I’ve got 163 miles on it, 90% in the dirt.  My goal is 1,000 miles by the end of the year. I’ve been trying to lose weight for awhile without much success. Since I’ve gotten in the habit of going after work I’m down about 10 lbs already. I’m pretty enthused. Here’s a few random pictures from the last few weeks. 0E3B4780-C3E6-4D59-A883-C1765136F2CF

I rode my friend's Meta Power on an actual singletrack climb today. Wow, that was a mistake. Now I want one!

Be careful they're addicting Laughing I've been going 4-5 times a week in the afternoons. For me it's the difference between not going and wanting to go all the time. The steep single track climbs are a blast, never thought I'd have fun pedaling a bike up hill, especially the steep ones. Just the fact you can even do it makes it a blast lol. Got mine at Christmas and hit 350 miles today, mostly all on dirt and single tracks, it's so fun I can't get enough of it. Having lots of trails nearby helps. Lots of variety and skill levels, and a lot of them are over my pay grade so it's never boring. Next upgrade for me is a full face mtb helmet. Check this out. Went to waterworks on the spur of the moment this afternoon. Was going pretty good down Waterfall ? I think ? Anyway, fast fun flowing trail I hadn't been down yet. Was ripping along fairly good and paying attention to the trail. I should have been looking up a little more, I came around a left hand corner, dropped down a little hill, and freaking whaaaamo flash of light and got knocked the F off the back off the bike and landed on my left side. No problem, I had hip pads, knee pads, shin pads and elbow pads, ...and an open faced helmet. The pads worked great, and while the helmet soaked up the hit from the tree limb quite well, the open face part wasn't so cool when I landed on the left of my face. It's not bad just puffy with a few minor scrapes. But since I'm ugly enough already and I told sumwife this sport is "Safe", I should try to not slide on my face anymore, so new helmet coming soon Cool  I say just go get one. You surf right ? EMTB's are like paddling a longboard but surfing a shortboard lol

Just getting back to this thread, Dood. No, I don't surf, but I get the reference. Definitely a game-changer. I was thinking about getting one more "regular" bike before I break down and go electric; that should last me until I'm about 60 or so. I want to keep up the challenge for now.

I bought a talria Sting and now need an ebike for the wife. We want to be able to cruise together on some of the bike trails and paths but she needs pedals to feel like a bike. I want to spend around 1-2k and was wondering if any of you had any suggestions?

Looking for an On and off road bike, Does NOT need crazy range, Girls step in bike as she is 5'1 110 lbs. We will prob ride her bike 5-10 per year on vacation.

Thanks!
