what is the best used 250f from 2011-16. I'm wanting to do a rebuild so I can learn how to do it. idk if I want to go full race bike or make it like it just came off the showroom floor.
what should I do engine wise?
what else should I do?

If you are looking to do a complete build for the first time I would highly recommend building a two stroke. They are much easier to work on and are gaining popularity fast so there will be more stock parts and upgrades available.

I would lean toward Honda or Yamaha. In general parts are cheaper for Honda than the other OEM's, while the YZ250F till 2013 had a well earned rep for being the most reliable 250F out there. In both cases parts are plentiful and easy to find.

14 CRF (spring forks)
14-16 YZ250F - powerful motor if you don't mind the backward head and all the goes with that design.

The best one will be the one with low hours and has been taken care of. I wouldn’t jump in the deep end and do a full rebuild without any experience. I would start off with checkeing valves then slowly work your way up to other big tasks. And what every you do, get a manual.
