TunaBro's 2003 CR125 build

Started tearing down more parts and finding how neglected this thing was...







Added an 07 intake boot.

Then the ugly...

And more ugly...

Got the motor out today and started cleaning the frame. Not sure if I am gonna tackle it all by hand or have it vapor honed. Would be nice to save the money but would be awesome to just have it done with.











That's all for now.

Used the bench grinder to clean up a few parts today. Did these brackets and the subframe as well as pressure washed the frame. I will upload more pics along the way.

Is it just me, I don’t see any pictures. Thanks for starting another cr build! I love these bikes.

Ok now I see them. I don’t know what was happening. Oh man the cleanup is the best part. I usually start with a steam pressure wash (not my own it’s at work) saves a lot of time for sure.

Quick update:

More parts rolling in and I got my wheels mounted up with the tires. Stoked to see a few parts being completed.

Oh, and I took my boys out riding a bit the other day.

Got my graphics ordered up. I think this keeps up well with my goal to keep it oem+.

I’ve been staring at those wheels at RM for almost a year and think the black/red/silver would look sweet! The graphics look like the newer crf style. Can’t wait to see it all together, looking good man.

Thanks! I’m really happy with the wheels and I’m stoked to get the graphics in. I’ve got some fun parts lined up for this bike and hope to start to rebuild soon.

It’s getting ugly...

I can’t tell what the first photo is? Power valve linkage? It sure is rustē/corroded dang!! They have stuff like pb blaster and other rust eaters on the market, maybe soak it and then soak it some more then hot solvent tank?

Yep! That’s the plan. Taking it all apart and seeing if a good clean does the trick or if I need some parts.

Prime Mx cleaning pads. They are awesome. Highly recommended.

That’s what I figured. Been thinking of picking some up. Looking forward to following your build, I had a 2006 CR125 I enjoyed a lot.

Thanks man. I am learning a lot as I go and I'm definitely stoked to get this thing moving along.

Finished up the linkage and swingarm bearings and managed to get the broken bolt out from the exhaust port. I anticipated this being a pain but it maybe took 10 minutes. Stoked for that!

Nice work! Just broken bolt = not bad... broken bolt because it was cross threaded = headache

Looking good so far man, linkage and swingarm bearings are next on the list for my CR build...not looking forward to it at all haha

Thanks! Im planning to take all my parts to the vapor blaster next weekend. Im super stoked to see the results!

Spit the cases this weekend in preparation for vapor blasting and the full rebuild. Can’t wait to see how they turn out. Oh and had a rough go at getting that gear off in the last pic but a quick rental of a gear puller and it came right off. 👍🏼

Man, parts of my 05 were filthy but this thing, wow! On the positive side, you're gonna be so pumped when this thing is freshened up.

Ha! Yeah I can't wait. Lots of parts being sent off for coatings and cleaning this week. Hopefully by the end of the month I can start some reassembly.

More cleaning and more prep for vapor blast. But I’m there and ready.

I always wanted to find a cr like this and give it the love it deserved.. keep up the awesome work!
