Thinking about a project CR250 as a 2nd bike

So I've been cruising CL for a few weeks lately looking for a project and a 2004 CR250 showed up. Bone stock and decently clean. Never been apart but has title. So I'm thinking most likely all new suspension bearings, suspension service, maybe a top end. Like I said it's decently clean and stock with low hours but never been apart for any maintenance. Guy wants $3200 and I'm the NE what would be a decent offer? I was thinking somewhere around $2500 but that might be a stretch for him.

I have my main bike also but have always loved the CRs but don't want to have spend a ton of money to get that bike raceable for the season before I dig into it. Thoughts?

I paid 2600 for mine in 2011 or 2012. I'm in the PNW and used bikes are pretty spendy here. The CRs hold their value well, but I'd say 2600-2900 is a reasonable offer depending on how nice it is. Ton of info on those bikes, very fun and easy to ride, you'll love it.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking most I'd probably feel alright about spending is around $2700 I think. Don't want to lowball because I hate when I get it but I think a fair offer would be $2700 hopefully

$3200 for an 04 seems extremely high. 05-07 were the best ones. I paid $2500 for my stock 07 about 6 months ago. CRguy on here has real clean 06 stock one for $2700 I think. There are so many options with CRs. Great project bikes! Good luck.

Awesome bike! If I still lived in Texas I'd be all over it. Unfortunately I'm in NE now and shipping looks like more of a pita than its worth. My wife also brought up a good point, I already have two bikes in our small garage and don't really have any room for a third. So for now I think I may just focus on my KTM 2 stroke. Maybe a 300sx kit? It only has 40 hrs on it and I have a ton of parts, and new wheels ready to go so I may just do that bike up. Thanks man good luck with that bike, blows my mind you haven't sold it already.
