We're in the "bike" builds section, right? Here she is. 1980 Mongoose Motomag. My 12 year old son and I just finished restoration. Frame and fork were bought on eBay. Original paint and decals. I'm 43 and this was my unattainable dream ride when I was a kid. I hope these shots bring back great memories! Please share your vintage BMX bike pics. Photo

That is super cool. I want a Kuwahara BMX for my man cave in the worst way. I love all those bikes from back in the day. I always wanted a set of those wheels. They looked bitcoin. I know they are kind of heavy but so cool. Congrats on the resto. Nice job.

Love it. I saw some restored hutch bikes a few years back going for $1000 on ebay. I love 80s mx/bmx, such an awesome time in both sports.

Amazing!

I found a brand new Skyway T/A frame, fork, handlebar and wheels for sale locally a few weeks ago, almost snatched it up. It gave me the idea of showing BMX Bandits to my son and got him a micro race bike. It was my favorite movie as a kid and I wanted a BMX bike really bad but never did.

I expect to build a similar project shortly with him.

Update. After the Mongoose was completed I realized that I couldn't stop. I bought a 1983 Hutch Pro Racer frame and fork and kept going. At the same time I found a locally owned 1996 GT Mach One as a 100% original owner complete bike. The frame and wheelset were all I kept. I hope these bring back some great childhood memories. Enjoy! Please post pics of your vintage BMX builds.

That Mongoose gave me butterflies .... I had a 1984 Mongoose Californian when I waas a kid. I rode the holy hell out of it!.......Some years ago my Mom sold it for like $20 at a garage sale, then I showed her how much they are worth today. Needless to say we were bummed.

I love the bear traps! My shins hate the bear traps, but I love em.

I wanted a hot pink/white Hutch so bad when I was a kid. Instead I got this thing from Coast to Coast. sad Not baller, not even with a seat from a Mongoose.

Michadog holy crap when i was 7 i got the same brand of bike new for xmas in 85. But i had the white n black ST 550 which was slightly better.
It had a better plastic bmx seat and better style bars and stem/neck and bar pads.

My friend got that hutch white n pink bike it was the trickstar. I found a 85 hutch i think it was the judge? rode the piss out of it in the early 90's blew away the 92 redline 340 i had at the time.

I knew a kid in my hood with a yellow kuwahara i got to ride it a few times it was a sweet ride. Could never come to grips with this 96 mongoose solution comp 3 i had.

Did you know the Hutch boys (men now) have always raced MX on a motorcycle in MD? I remember one getting top 5 at the Mini O’s years ago.

I had a GT Mach 1 back in 1985 and it was stolen off my friend porch- was the worst day of my life (at that age). I’ll never forget! Thankfully my parents insurance reimbursed them and I got myself a GT Pro Performer..

I do see that a guy in Appleton, WI is selling all new Hutch bike parts..What do you guys know about this? Did he buy all the blueprints etc and re-making parts to that spec?

A friend of mine is a big bike collector..here are a few pictures of his collection..

I enjoy hearing everyones' BMX memories. That is some collection for sure. As for new Hutch parts being sold, https://hutchbmx.com. I bought the pedals, bars, grips, decals and seat post collar from Hutch. Excellent quality but pricey. These bear traps are beautiful. Photo

That Quadangle makes my pants tighten up. I had a white Trickstar with with white Tuff II's, and white PK for racing, but man I wanted a Quadangle. I'll have to see if I can dig up some pics.

Here it is in all it's 1985 glory. I had just left Jersey to go to school in Charlotte, and my buddy at the bike shop sent this to me to replace my broken and warrantied PK Ripper.
