When I was 14 years old I somehow got it stuck in my head that I wanted a 1989 yz80 and within a month I managed to find a basket case That was just the year I wanted, here's how it looked when I picked it up

During the engine teardown I found rust on the crank and inside the cylinder and a very bent rod leading me to believe the engine was hydro locked while revving pretty high.
I was just going to restore it back to factory colors but then had random inspiration for a really out there color scheme, it's a bit different and some people might hate it but I'm still dragging this bike out of the dirt and back into service which we can all agree is very much a good thing Yeah?
I followed this up by powdercoating and adding some small details, I also replated all the original hardware as to provide some origionality.
Edited Date/Time:
I then went through and replaced each and every bearing and seal in the little engine, had the crank rebuilt and balanced as well as the cylinder honed and a weisco piston
Sorry for the lack of photos for this stage, just completely forgot to take any lol
Re plated the rest of the hardware and went with a slightly different gold style zinc playing on the shifter and brake pedal assembly's
Had to have a hole in the swingarm welded where the chain had rubbed through, was very difficult to find an aluminium welder in my small town
Installed new oil and dust seals in the forks as well as new oil and 0.33 kg/mm racetech springs as I'm now 18 and not as heavy as I once was. As you can tell by now this project has been going on over the last 4 years as it constantly gets put on the backburner with other bike builds and projects.
Powdercoated the swingarm and wheels as well as the linkage, starting to look like a bike again!
I am currently travelling europe and have 2 months before I can go home and continue with the build, over the course of the trip I ordered a new plastic kit, various missing hardware from bike bandit and a complete new rear axle assembly as that was missing when I bought the bike, let me know what you think of the build so far and look forward to seeing this thing done
