2006 RM250 “Stock” mod build FINISHED - updated 12-2020

9/28/2020 1:17am Edited Date/Time 12/21/2020 12:17pm
Just recently picked up this 2006 RM250 from the original owner. Super clean and low hours. Only things not stock are the tires and grips.

Besides a few maintenance bolts almost none of the bolts have ever had a wrench on them. Even the clutch perch!

Gonna tear it down and clean/detail everything up. I also got some stuff I want to add to it when I build it back up. Stay tuned!!

Yes!! Awesome bike. My 06 was all stock when I got it and it ran amazing. I put a PC pipe and then a rad valve on it and it took away the low end snap. Seems like everything I tried to make it faster/improve power, made it less. All stock was when it ran best. I’ll try and find a euro “hop up information” I found online a while back. Sweet bike and it looks to be in amazing shape!

Nice find, I pick up a 2005 about a month ago. What are your plans with it?

Very nice. That thing is like a careful, deliberate scotchbrite job, and frame touch-up away from being dealer condition. Could just do basic white backgrounds with black numbers, and a PC with 304 carbon/ti and leave it unmolested

Perfect 👌, if you want to sell that seat cover I've been hunting for one for awhile

I can't speak for them but it boils down to two things:

1. Word of mouth
2. Having 5 grand sitting on your kitchen counter and constantly checking the top hot spots online multiple times a day, and hauling ass with cash. Bikes like these are sold in 3 hours.

Couple pieces from my other bike going onto this one.

Pro Circuit linkage. Bearings cleaned and regreased.

I think being in SoCal is a huge bonus. I've seen a few of these pop up over the past year in same or better condition.

Man you guys are getting me wanting to get back out in the garage. I picked this little gem up a few years back for 1200 with title. Was told it was rode up and down the street about 20-30 times and then looped out and parked for 17 years. Was all set to send out my hubs to FasterUSA and then came back from spring break snowboarding to a world full of this covid BS.

i know PC is making the carbon Ti-2 silencer for the rm250, i just got one for my 2005.

Joined the vapor blasting bandwagon. It did not disappoint! Engine and Carb.

Blasted the engine whole. Checked the powervalve and waterpump afterwards and nothing got inside.

Added a Hinson clutch basket and inner hub. The oem clutch plates are pretty much brand new so just reusing those.

Hey if you haven’t thrown out the Oem top steering stem bearing and seal yet could you take some pics of it for me after you take it off? I’m trying to figure something out on my 125 and it looks like the seal on your bike is the answer. I have a pivot works kit on mine now and the top seal does not sit up on top of the frame like yours.

Triple clamps are already on the bike.. This is the best I could find from my pictures. How do the pivot works kit look like?

Thanks awesome build! This is the best picture I have right now and maybe I’m doing something wrong but it kinda slides down around the head tube. If you look at the oem seal on yours it looks like it sits up above Looking at the picture. The bud clamps won’t work without a spacer which is fine but that Oem seal looks like the answer to my problem unless I did it wrong.

Here is another view for you. The oem seal does slide down into the head tube about 3-5mm (if I had to guess without measuring). Hope this helps!
