Just picked up a 1983 Honda CR 60....and I'm PUMPED!!! Located it about 4 hours away and the guy was asking $500...I offered $300 due to the drive and we settled on $400 which I was pleased with. He then informed me that he couldn't get the bike running (although it supposedly was back in June/July) so we then agreed on $350...DEAL!!! I don't know why but I've always been obsessed with these little bikes, they are just so damn cool in my eyes. I have a 3 year old boy at home and this is going to be our project build together, my honest intention is to never work on this bike unless he is with me out in the garage....this seriously might turn into a several year project haha. I've seen the BBR/Jimmy Lewis CR 60 and yes it is BADASS but unfortunately that's not what this is going to be. I do not have the means to fabricate things like he did but don't worry, this thing is going to be impressive when WE are done with it!
Does anyone have any pertinent info they'd like to share with me. I certainly know nothing about these bikes and will learn as I go. Anyone know any specifics as far as what CR 80 parts from the same era may fit this thing?
Here are a few pics to start the project off with:
A LOT of work lie ahead of us
Pleased to see the exhaust was all there and in-tact
I'm not 100% convinced that the Honda Engineering staff came up with this double nut design haha
Although dirty, everything is practically there
I love the purple sparkle spray paint...nice touch!
Wasn't even aware these parts came with the bike. A brand new case, brand new clutch assembly, brand new shifting gears and shift drum, etc.

I searched for them endlessly as a kid....unicorn.
Before....
After..... Seeing it's a 1984 CR I had to put the #1 on it for the #1 rider in 84 and my hero David Bailey.
Thanks!
The Shop
Here they are at 2 years. They have ditched the plastic crap tools for the real thing now.

Best of all....a little carb work and the thing runs like a champ! (trying to figure out how to post a video but can't haha)
Reminds me of how I started wrenching on stuff!!
Keen to see how this mini turns out!!!
The boy helping me prep the removal of the old cover...of course with his combine in the other hand haha
Old seat cover off which exposed a pretty decent seat foam. Honestly, I was expecting it to be broken down a lot more than it was. In my mind, this was perfectly useable.
A little of the overspray from that sweet purple/white sparkle paint job haha. Of course, all the staples were badly rusted and took some finesse in getting them all out without breaking them.
You will never see the underside of the seat base once installed but the purple overspray bothered me. Just threw a light coat of white colored "plastic rustoleum" paint on there...not perfect but way better. Let me say, a 3 year old boy with a can of spray paint can be a dangerous thing haha
Quite pleased with our performance on this seat!
Pit Row
Purchased an original manual for the thing. Luckily we have the proper equipment at work to punch and bind books SO...
Purchased this probably about 4 weeks ago and it finally showed up, a complete new plastic set :-). Kind of thinking of going with a white colored front number plate but now have a new red one just incase I change my mind haha
