I've been riding 2 strokes for the last 6 years, a combination of yz250's, a cr250, and 250sx's. I never really gelled with my 17 250sx, and really felt better on my buddies 350sxf, so I planned on getting one of those, but couldn't find a buyer for my sx, and I got this offered on trade, so I'll give it a go.
Bike was pretty clean when I got it, but I always go completely through any used bike that I buy. I had several goodies already on hand, Guts phantom seat foam, orange airbox, graphics, etc. I upgraded the forks with wp closed chamber internals, and jbi pro perches, had the shock set up for me, and added a newer model shock reservoir and piston.
I originally didn't plan to powdercoat the frame, but when I removed the skid plate, there was a good bit of paint wear, so I figured what the heck, weather was terrible at the time, so might as well.
I've had a couple rides on it so far, and pretty happy with it, hopefully that will continue.

Where did you find the orange air box? I'm digging that orange frame and am thinking about doing my 16 125s the same.

The airbox is from a 17 250sxf factory edition. I always have preferred the orange frame as well, but never bothered before, but since the paint wasn't perfect on the frame, I took the plunge.

That color scheme with those graphics looks great. Reminds me of the mid to late 00’s KTM

I do like the graphics scheme. Liked those on your 250SX that I can't believe didn't sell.

Anything in particular on why you didn't gel with the 250SX?

I never really liked the power delivery, it didn't have the bottom end power of my 14 and 15 250sx's, then hit really hard in the mid. Tried all kinds of things to get it better, I was seriously considering getting a 300 kit for it, but decided to try the 4 stroke for a while. Really liked the weight and handling of the 17 though, and will probably get a 300 xc at some point.

Thanks for reply. The breadth in stock form isn't quite my preference either. I added the 300 kit to my '17 TC250 and it is pretty nice. Takes away a little of the snappiness, but has more power everywhere.

Anyways, build looks nice. Have fun on it!

You're welcome!

Glad to hear that the 300 kit is doing the job for you. Have fun with your TC as well!

Good on you Jeff, bike looks great. Whats going on with that Red Thang in the first pic ? I'm going to shoot you a text soon, so keep your phone handy. Oh, I still have your 06 CR250, and it's still still mean as hell.

Thanks Alan! Red thing is an 82 CR480 that I'm going through for a buddy of mine. It's a really nice, original bike.
It's awesome that you still have my old CR! It's always good to see one of my old bikes get a great home. Post up a picture of that beast in this thread!

Here's your old warrior. I need a more mellow motor, I've been tossing the idea of a 2000-2001 CR around.... what would you do ?

The 00-01 engine is supposed to be better, I'm not sure how difficult it is to put one in your chassis, I have seen it done though.
