Roommate and I were looking at getting a couple of scooters to run around on for shits and giggles. We intend on fitting a bigger piston, bigger carb, and an exhaust etc. And generally beating the living hell out of them. Is there any particular scooters that are desirable to start with? Any tips on which models to avoid and which are the ones to look for?
We're not looking to do any scooter racing or anything that serious. We've both had big bikes in the past. And both have reasonably big hp project cars mid build that are on hold for a while. We're just looking for something small and cheap(ish) we can modify for a laugh and zip around on for a while. I rode a couple of modified "racing" scooters over in Thailand and thought it'd be fun to build one.

The owner also has a full service scooter shop. Im sure he can answer all your questions.
