Hi Everyone...I've started a build on this super low hour stockish Ktm 300 Exc 2001..... this bike is the cleanest old bike I've ever bought.... I'm also starting a youtube blog with the rebuild...

I'm thinking a two stroke version of Joel Smets Factory bike
I love the way this bike looks if frigging mean....what do you think?

Pre-start up problem number 2 was a funny one.... the tank was bone dry when it got to me... so as you do I popped the fuel cap off and had a good look inside it...and it was mint so I thought good to go let's get some fuel in here and fire it up....
Lol so I turned the fuel tap to ON...nothing
So I tried RESERVE....nothing.... on closer inspection after taking the fuel tap off it just disintegrated....like an Egyptian mummy's handbag... so that was fun had to rig a dummie tank up for the fire up while I awaiting a after market replacement....

Another problem I encountered.. was no clutch..... so I just assumed the seal had blown in the slave cylinder or something similar.... it wasn't till I checked out the lever I found I had a crack in the casting bigger than a smack-eds Friday night fix....
Not sure why there was no clutch but I popped the mastercylinder cap off and it was dry.... so I managed to locate a complete master cylinder ... and replaced that back bled the system and...Viola! We had clutch.....

My garage is a bomb site.....
More parts continue to turn up !( much to my wife's displeasure)
Not to much more to report problem wise I'm awaiting the wheels back from have some Fresh boots put on... then I will be diving into suspension service rebuild......

Had a few hours in the workshop this week..got the wheels back .... fitted the swing arm and shock back up mounted the carb with new breathers...and fitted the new factory look throttle tube...

20 years old and the headstock bearings are like new with signs of the original yellow grease...I've never owned a old bike ...that's this new .. its like a time warp...

The OEM reality on this bike is unreal... 
Strange to see DiD rims on this I thought Ktm used Excel

That bike is in amazing condition and it’s rare we see ktm builds of these earlier 2000ish KTMs so I’m pumped on this one.

Thanks bud .... my first race bike was an 2001 ktm 125 so this build is a homage to that one lol... with a bit more poke... but yes I cannot work out how a bike is that old but I'm almost sure it's hasn't even done like a few hours from new... it's a great find...👍

My first race bike was an 02 125SX. I currently have an 03 125sx that is in rough shape and is gonna be a complete rebuild whenever I get the time
