I was looking through Facebook Marketplace the other day when something caught my eye. It is a 1994 GasGas EC 125. After driving about 7 hours round trip yesterday this bad boy is mine. It’s a very cool bike, nickel plated frame, TM engine, Ohlins shock, Marzocchi forks and a lot of other cool bits. I have found a small amount of info on the bike but not much. From what I’ve gathered there were 10 of these imported in 1994, they were imported for the ISDE in Oklahoma. All the bikes were sold from one shop, KRW in the Dayton/Tory, Ohio area. I figure since 10 were imported in 1994 this may possibly be the last one.
I’ll try to document the build a little better then I have on my other builds. I can’t wait to take a spin on this thing.

The Shop
Is that muffler a Acerbis C35 carbon fiber unit? They are super rare but make great power. I would refurb it if its a C35.
there is a guy in germany who did import GasGas Bikes untill the spanish company was killed by KTM
If you re looking for parts- he might have what u need.
I never had any problems getting parts for a 1999 EC250- the availability of parts here in europe was good (easier to get parts for a 20year old gasgas than a 15year old KTM)
for the engine parts TM does also have a good reputation for spares- but i know for sure not all parts a available from TM anymore- you might have to retrofit clutch and gearbox parts...
I found a couple things during the tear down. This bike has had a rough life. Both wheels are bent, the front one is cracked in a couple places. The drain plug has been replaced with a rubber plug, the the threads look like they can be repaired.
The front brake caliper has a magnet and part of the wiring for what looks like an old enduro computer. The bike has some paint markings and the plastic is faded around some old stickers, this makes me think that this bike either raced ISDE or a qualifier.
I was fortunate enough to attend the ISDE 92,93,94 and see these bikes up close and personal. Those GasGas and TM bikes were sooooooo trick!
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if that bike was ridden at the ISDE and tossed in the back of the distributors truck after the event or hauled off by some spectator who happened to have a big wad of cash after the final motos. SOOOO much stuff gets bartered or bought at the end of the events as people don't want to have to pack it.
Here's a couple photos from the 94 ISDE with "maybe your bike".

Also, I looked the silencer over. The picture below shows the damage. Hopefully I can coat it with resin and save it.
I spoke with the company who imported the bike today, the guy I talked to said that he remembers only 5-6 of these being imported. Either way if 5 or 10 were imported, I’m sure there isn’t too many left.
This should be a very cool build.
Pit Row
He was considered for an Hero for that.
Race: Gilles Lallay Classic, I'am pretty sure this is him:
I started cleaning the swingarm, I need to remove a couple broken bolts and have the holes repaired. My engine parts should be here tomorrow and I dropped the shock off last week for a rebuild.
Alot of the bolts have this cool turtle logo on them.
I have a new seat cover on the way, a red and black one. It should look a lot better than the yellow and blue one.
I made a trip to Dayton, OH a few Saturdays ago to talk to Kirk at KRW Cycles. Kirk originally purchased the 10 1994 GasGas machines that were sent here for the 1994 ISDE that took place in Oklahoma. GasGas did not want to mess with shipping all the bike back to Spain so he purchased them. He stated that out of the 10 bikes he had one new one and the rest were ISDE bikes. All the ISDE bike had the Acerbis carbon silencer, and Excel rims. My bike has the silencer by not Excel rims. The rims that are on the bike are mangled so the they may have been changed at some point. It's cool to learn a little history on the bike.
Since the last update I have rebuilt the forks, sent the shock off to be rebuilt, split the cases, changed the seat cover and tracked down a few other parts that I need. Finding parts for this thing is like a treasure hunt, a lot of the parts were utilized from other brands. I've found KX chassis parts, Honda engine parts, YZ clutch parts and KTM brakes.
I'm thinking gold rims will look good on this thing.
For the silencer I would order some carbon and quality epoxy resin and grind a V and drill holes in the end of the cracks and fill it with thickened epoxy (I use a mix of west systems 403/404 filler) Then wrap it with another layer of carbon..if you prep it really well it should work good
I have all the parts to rebuild the brakes, but I can't seem to get the pistons out of the calipers. I tried pumping air in to them but the pistons didn't move.
This might go on the back burner for a while, I just picked up a 1980 Husqvarna OR 390. I have a few things I want to do to the 390, but it is a good running bike. It just needs a few cosmetic things.
the biggest problem i have is finding new linkage parts
can i pls ask where u got them from ??
