Full restore/build 2006 RM250

Just sharing a two stroke build I did. No factory suspension or full titanium like I see on many builds here. My boys and I have KTM FE’s, 19 KX450 and 18 CRF450 for race bikes so this is purely for the fun factor, sound and smell. I lucked into many parts on the cheap that were NOS, OEM, New Used and old back stock since I was in no rush.

I don’t have the energy to detail the journey, but everything was painstakingly restored to new. Blasted and cerakoted many parts. I used some parts that were collecting dust in the shop. Race Tech did the suspension. I had a blast doing the work.
Everything is new. Every bearing, seal, crank, cylinder, clutch, etc….. like seriously everything. Started 1st kick and brought back that sense of fun that I don’t get from my 450. Lap times mean nothing on practice days to me at my age. It’s all about the fun now. I did not want a new model 2 stroke. That would have defeated my purpose. I have run 1 tank of VP C-12/927 through it so far. Had to call a DR since the erection lasted longer than 4hrs.

IMO one of the better builds vital has seen. Not totally a showroom piece but so bad AF. Congrats

Wow. The yellow frame looks surprisingly good on this. Awesome job!!

Did the ‘18 front just bolt straight up?

Thank you. The updated plastic & aluminum tank thing has been done many many times on RM threads here already. Just wanted one for myself.

Thank you. The yellow frame ties the look together imo.

Very simple to mount 18 front number plate and fender. Take 1/4" aluminum flat stock and drill 3 holes. That's it. I modified it for better cable routing. Will take pic today of final bracket.
