My buddy’s bike, stolen ten years ago, I recovered it about 2-3 years ago, been working on it since. It’s not a stocker. 89 cylinder, Chinese radiators etc. Cost me a whole lot more in time and currency than I imagined, but I’ve enjoyed it, nonetheless. I’ll race it next year. 60+ . It Started tonight ! Gonna need more tweaking....

lovely job. the 89 cylinder a direct replacement, how does it compare performance wise compared to the 87 and 88? i know the 87 was a stout motor.

Spectacular job Rup! Next year, in September, is the 30th Annual DC Vet Homecoming race at High Point. You should be there!

Just started last night. 89 cylinder was direct fit although different head mounting required using 89 head stays. Haven’t ridden yet, wanna slowly break in and fiddle with all things that need tweaking...

2014 YZ450 pegs require a little grinding. Found the front disc fork guards in England. EBay.

The story of how it was recovered so long after being stolen must be interesting. Care to share?

Are you running taller seat foam Rup? The seat looks really good and not that much of a dip like the stock seat

Btw that pipe looks SO MUCH BETTER than the stocker. I had and rode the hell outta an 87 CR250 from 93 - 97. I absolutely hated the way the stock pipe had that funky AF bend in the pipe to dip around the Shroud. How did the Honda guys think that looked good? Lol 😆
The suspension was incredible as is no secret but when I got my 1993 CR250 in mid 1997 it absolutely blew the 87 away in every category except suspension… bleh those 93 forks were muff-cabbage lol 😆

Grrrrreat bike El Senor Rupert

No, sir. Had to find a new used seat base and then fresh foam, standard height. Yeah, that pipe took a lot of work, she was rough. Thanks, boss.
