Well what started out as a quick flip for an extra buck has now turned into a cash grabbing monster, once I figured my wife should ride it. I picked this thing up covered in rust and full of leaves, it must've spent a winter or two in the elements cause it was in very rough shape.

Most of the parts were randomly placed in trash bags and boxes and even had to fight off some black widows to get the cylinder back, But most of the parts were there. I quickly stripped down the frame and swingarm for powder coat and set my sights on cerakoting just about everything else.

Props to you for putting that sticker over the VIN. One of the companies I work for is a blast shop and you would be surprised how many people drop them off and do not specify. The guys know to not hit that area but masking and being direct is smart way to be sure its in tact when done.

The frame and the swingarm turned out great from the powdercoater, but in my hast, when I ripped out the chain adjuster bolts all the threads came out with them . So I thought I would give these "swingarm buddies" which is basically just a thread insert.

Maybe the rod is Japanese but the rest is China made?

Following this. My girlfriend wants to trade her Chinese pit bike for something bigger.

We actually went see CR80 that was for sale nearby but the bike was in too bad shape for the price that the seller was asking for and had to leave it there.

It's funny that some people think that the bike is completely fine with blown rear shock and missing air filter and want premium price for that...

That horrible yellow on the spring has to go, I tried using strip-eez and it got most of the powder coat off after an hour or so. I had to go back with scotchbrite and another coat of strip eez to finish it off. But it turned out great! Curious to see how the cerakote will hold up on the spring.

Probably, they really push the made in Japan stuff though, makes it a little frustrating. Better not catch the flu from this 😅

Motor is back together! Unfortunately while turning the motor over by hand I discover the camshaft was bent. Luckily hot cams makes a pretty good cam and I was able to install it this week.

Also got the swingarm buddies installed. The brake calipers and master cylinders also got a healthy coat of cerakote.

Before assembling the motor, I did Checked how true the crank was...both sides were half of tolerance. So quality is still spot on.

The linkage is all steel and was kinda rusty, so it also needed some cerakote.

All the parts that were replaced from the motor. The previous owner said they didn't do an oil change right. I assume that means they drained the engine oil and added it to the transmission. The top end did not fair well.

Ran into some problems with the carb. Wouldn't idle, which after a quick search on the internet sounds like a real common problem on these 150R's. Ended up taking it apart and putting all new gaskets , including mid body gaskets, new slide and a jd jet kit in it.

Welp she's all finished up. Spent more than I would've liked but I think it turned out great! I tried to use as many local utah companies to help me and can honestly say they all did a great job. Wrap It Utah for the graphics, Throttle Therapy for the seat cover, Powder Labs handled the powder coating and Rocky Mountain for just about all of the hard parts.

Looks pretty awesome! Has the wife rode it yet? My wife has one and she definitely doesn’t ride it to it’s potential. Any carb mods done?

She has, its a little small for her unfortunately. But I think it has plenty of power to haul almost anyone around. I had to replace just about every gasket in the carb, the slide, the choke and I put a JD jet kit in it. From what I've read the 07 needle is absolute junk and the JD needle makes it run really smooth.
I have some photos of the carb, it was full of a substance similar to peanut butter.

Oh man that stuff looks nasty. My wife has the big wheel version and she’s only 5’4 so it works for her. We had to learn how to start it cold, warm, tip over and hot. It’s a different process for each engine temp. I did rejet it and got the remote mix screw but no power bowl, quick shot or anything like that. I need to get my wife some high heel boots so she can get on a 250 with electric start.
