She's coming together! I love the way these bikes look with the black seat cover. I don't know what it is, but they look really good to me. Bummed about your top end though.

Well guys, I've really thought about this, and I'm pretty much decided on sending the engine to get rebuild by CT racing. Working two jobs typically only having a Sunday off, and last weekend I worked Saturday and Sunday, just doesn't leave me enough time to split the cases and get this thing back together in time to ride it this summer.

I'm confident in rebuilding a bottom end, but now is not the time. I'm just way too busy with other things in my life. But I'm gonna bite the bullet, send the bottom end to CT racing in Cali from VA. They can split the case, rebuild the crank if needed, and fix the shifting problem for me. It'll cost around $600 but fuck it I'll be riding with a smile on my face in a month. And I'm sending my Cylinder and head to millineum tech to get reworked and replated. Also the head to get cleaned up.

I really would like to do it myself but realistically I just don't have the time right now. I leave my house at 6AM and get home between 9-10pm Monday through Friday so it definitely is frustrating because I want to do it lol. In a year or two when I'm only working 1 job I'm definitely going to find another 90's 2 stroke and rebuild it from the ground up!

I definitely have learned so much doing this build, doing it all by myself. Working on my new 01 Yz this weekend and putting a number plate and number plate decals on the 97 this weekend. I'll be sending the engine and Cylinder and head off next week. I don't feel like spending the money but hey I didn't work last weekend for nothing Laughing

You should look into a service manual.

What did you do with your original shrouds? I would love to purchase them from you even if they are scratched up a little bit.

Finally pretty much finished the bike. The only 2 things I need to do is put a front brake lever on and fix my carb issue. Other than that she’s straight. Did the proper break in procedure last weekend. Gonna ride it at a local track this Sunday so I’m beyond excited! Proper photos will be taken but these are just some the day I started it up. Cool

I had a 1997 yz125 back in the day. Great bike! Good job on this one. I don't like the black swingarm though. To each their own, I know.

Here's mine back in the day. :)
Here's mine back in the day. Smile

Thanks man! And I just wanted to do something different with the swing arm. I have a 2000 yz125 that I’m gonna keep the swing arm bare. Smile and how old was that picture? I love seeing old bikes when they were “new(ish)” Cool looks good though man. Is that a CEET seat cover? If so, I have the exact same one in a box
