I'm wrapping up the build on my 1996 cr250 that I purchased last year. I think I'm finally at the point where I don't need to purchase any more parts, just reassemble what I have taken apart or acquired over the past few months. I didn't start a step by step build because I didn't know how long it would take me because it is my first build. I really liked the look of the 92-94 Team Honda bikes so I decided to go with that theme, hope you guys enjoy.
My starting Point
Tearing it down
Lots of spray paint on this bike, zep paint remover worked ok

Got a very good deal on a set of 2004 twin chamber showa forks
Took a lot of the casting marks off while cleaning up odds and ends. I looked at every bolt on this bike and either ordered a replacement or thoroughly cleaned it.
The radiators didn't leak but are pretty tweaked, I was able to get them fairly straight, this is how they looked initially
I took off most of the casting marks on the triple clamps and shined them up to look more like billet
Oem pipe got blasted then scotch bright with WD-40, I added 2017 yz450f foot pegs and crf450 rear master cylinder
This is pretty much how the bike is sitting currently, really pleased with my cloth renthal pad.
Hopefully this weekend my shock will be finished getting rebuilt so I can move on with assembly. I did the 97+ 240mm rear brake mod and added a 270mm front rotor kit from Braking.

Big fan of the CR2 92-96 models.. Wish I still owned my 93 race bike..
I am wondering how you mount your front plate? Looks like the newer top clamps have the bolt on the top rather than the front on the 96.
