Hey all...this is my first "restoration", I add the quotes as sarcasm because I hate how overused that word is. I plan to fix whatever is needed and replace the worn, faded parts including powder coating the frame, so call it what you want. I picked it up at the end of January and have ridden it twice. I feel pretty confident about the bike based on it's originality and the fact that my buddy, who's had his 500 since new in 95, said that this one has lots of compression and runs like a bull. The seller stated it had a new piston with only a few minutes on it. I'll be getting into it one day to see for myself. Here's a few pics to document what I've started with and where it goes. Please jump in with any advice or opinions, I'm open to constructive criticism!!

Take apart, clean/ grease, fresh premix and go try and hold on.
No black plastic, black wheels or monster stickers. It looks right the way it is.
Send off suspension and have valved/ sprung for you.

No freakin Monster decals, no black plastic except the shrouds. I’m thinking I’m going with a mid 90s 1-800-COLLECT look. I’m definitely keeping all the original parts. There’s several combinations of color I could go, but in a nutshell, red with white.
A little like this:
