I found after building the cr500 i enjoyed the time spent...
So got my wife a bike to ride...it turned out i found a newer bike so this bike got the special instead...

This bike was a big problem to overhaul....all the used parts were around..but wow people like thier parts ...finding a pipe was just a waiting game...the bike was complete but was spent..everything was in need bearings /shock was dead...the forks..you get the picture... I am now looking to sell this one i think...its in my kitchen...i have a ton of pics of the build will post some...if you have a cr80 and need parts..let me know...i have a few extras..

The black rims were a last min idea...the rear rim was so bad it needed to be thrown out...this tusk rim fit the bill..but was black...so the front rim joined it....and the fork covers in blue didnt match the seat blue at all...so black they went...i kept all the stock parts i hate seeing bikes parted out...but the need is real and sometimes to save one we must let the very poor ones go...

Nice bike, I have an 87 CR80 to finish up at some point. Do you happen to have any spare plastics that you are looking to sell?

Thanks...and i don't have any plastics...i got lucky with this bike...all plastics were there and original...I never found any plastics for it...that front # plate is hard to come by...

Very nice build, I'm looking for a 87' CR-80R myself, they seem to be hard to find.

We did a redo of a 1989 cr80, impossible to find plastic for. Thankfully ours were salvageable. Ended up going to a guy who had every 1989 Honda mx bike for his collection. I have a ton of original manuals if anyone needs them

I do have a Honda shop manual for 85-91. Moto fun fact, it came from Brett smiths (we went fast) dad when we bought their 1993’s off them in 1994! Still has his name and number written in it.

Im 49 and my dad bought me this same bike off the showroom floor in 1986. I think I was in the 7th grade. It was $1095 and I ran the piss out of it. Good job and thanks for sharing.
