Mods for what? You need to provide more info, are you looking for handling, engine performance, looks? What kind of rider are you? What kind of terrain?

spring conversion, revalve for you and your riding style, pdhs barmounts, and a two stroke filter cage is a pretty good start in my opinion

This first, Vortex from TD and Cone valve works(if you can afford them)
+
-Use 2 stroke air filter cage
-Yoshimura full exhaust system
-2020 air box cover with holes

Öhlins cartridges would be the better and cheaper way to go + they last longer so more bang for your buck in every single way.

good thing with cone valve is when you sell the bike you can put the stockers back on and move the CV's to your new bike.

It depends on how much you can afford up front.

I think a used set of cone valves are the way to go if you plan on using them for multiple years.

My first set I bought for $1800, used for 2-3 years and sold them for $2,000 recently.

Changing cartrideges is the least of problems :D + cartridges sit in the oil all the time so you can get alot more use out of them than from buying a set of forks.

But the thing is, you can get more out of Öhlins cartridges/forks than CW-s, because of the technology. We have done a lot of testing in Estonia with different riders and everyone chooses Öhlins over WP, heck even nowadays they rather ride stock/revalved air than cone valves, but yeah, bike looks cool with CW-s, many people are driven by that also.
