2017 Husqvarna FC450 - FINISHED

Recently picked up a used Husqvarna FC450 with 19 hours on it. Bike was purchased new just 3 months ago but certainly isn't in showroom new condition anymore...a lot of the hours were put on it in "the dunes". I plan on doing pretty much a frame-up build of the bike minus removing the motor out of the frame...just not going that far :-). This will be a 3-4 month project hopefully finishing up February/March timeframe once weather clears here in the Midwest.

Started out with some solid washing and a good washing partner :-)









Damn that's a nifty little stand there holding the bike up :-)....OK, so maybe I invented it haha

Nice! With it being a 3-4 month project, i'd pull the motor out of it for the 30 mins it takes to do...you'll get a better satisfaction seeing it go from the ground up, and at least you know every bolt is 100% and greased then Smile

Tore this one a apart just a little bit today...time was not on my side haha. Able to clean it up a bit more though before winter weather gets here.



What's the fix for this? Buying new plastics...would like to prevent from this happening again...the melting.

man these huskys are so sexy!! you always have some nice builds, looking forward to this , im definitely thinking going husky, just not sure smoker or 450

Thanks man, I appreciate it! You are right, these are damn fine looking machines from the factory...and this is going to be even finer haha. I think this thing is going to really be something special when I'm done with it, I hope the Rockstar guys don't request for me to build all their bikes HAHAHA

That foil/foam keeps the pipe or exhaust from melting the plastic. Some people need them, some don't.

Did a little more work today on this. The kid I bought it from said he rode it a bit "in the dunes" haha....well, it's obvious that it has been ridden A LOT in the dunes :-). Glad I'm taking everything apart as there is sand everywhere.

For some reason, I have a real hatred for casting marks such as these. Updated pics coming...








Of course, sand in the linkage bearings. Got these are cleaned out and re-packed. Really cool to see this knuckle being a billet piece of Al compared to a cast part :-)




Subframe all taken apart. Really intricate and cool design they have done here!

Finished the linkage arm tonight. Ground off the casting marks, sent it thru the sand blaster, and finished it off with cleaning out the bearings then re-packing them.

It's interesting that they have a billet part for the linkage! If I was you I would be pulling out the bearings and getting it anodised Wink

Very nice bike! Looks like it's going to be fresh! I've got a couple customer bikes coming up with similar length of builds.

Any specific reasoning you want to go with anodizing? Ceramic coat is a great alternative as well as powder coat. I specialize in both and use only those methods on my bike builds.

I actually said anodize generically...I will be using Cerakote for several items. Thank for the heads up.

With a new baby girl arriving last week to our family, the time out in the garage is pretty sparse at the moment...which is just fine. I have been lucky enough to begin collecting a few parts along the way WoohooWoohooWoohoo

Lightspeed carbon fiber fork guards (I'm a sucker for these), a Hinson clutch cover (still on the fence about replacing everything inside the cover with Hinson products...that's A LOT of coin), T.M. Designworks rear chain guide, and a new RK chain. Thinks are looking good.

A long-time fan of anything GUTS Racing from back in my own racing days, I knew I wanted to try out this new Phantom seat foam they came out with. Also of course added an all black ribbed GUTS Racing seat cover, with the "H" added in.

In my mind, the best levers out there are ARC levers without a doubt...I think if you walk around the pro pits, they all think the same thing too. Adding a set of their composite Memlon levers and clamps...if you haven't checked out these Memlon levers, I suggest you do
