2007 KX250 retro build

I'm pretty convinced I need different offset triples on this bike. I just can't get it to corner like my previous bikes (15 KTM 350sx, '02 RM125, '02 KX250). It wants to climb out of ruts way to easily. I hear '02 KX250 triples have the desired 22mm offset and are a direct swap minus steering stem, so I may go that route just to find out.

I'd like to work on corners and ruts more, but this bike's geometry fights me every step of the way. The PC links just didn't make the magic happen either.

The PC link lowers the rear which makes the bike more stable at higher speed.....which makes it not want to turn.

Try removing the links, set shock sag and fork to stock height. If you want it to turn sharper run less sag and/or more fork height (raise forks to lower front end). Only make one change at a time. Ifyou go too far you may suffer headshake at high speed, 4th 5th wfo.

I ran the link on my 05 only because I preferred the seat height, but I shortened my forks to match and get the bike to turn again.

Yeah tbh I removed the PC links after a couple rides and then sold them. Running stock dog-bone links now.

PC Link, Lower forks 3/8 works good. Applied clamps 21.5 mm offset with PC Link is the best combo.

Raced this weekend, bike is running so good rn. Should have the 2002 KX250 triples in this week, rain this weekend so hopefully I can get them swapped out.

When I got the bike a few years ago I wasn't aware how many hours were on the engine. The PO apparently raced it up north, so all bets are off. I used the existing cylinder when I did my case/crank replacement in 2018.

Piston slap became increasingly louder with 25 hours on the then new Wiseco piston, so I went ahead and ordered a new OEM Kawasaki cylinder last week and tore the engine apart last night.

Probably did this just in the nick of time, too.

The plating is worn all the way through to the aluminum on the intake side!

Power valves had a lot of wear as well, so I put in an order through Webike. Hopefully they are in stock and ship from Japan in a few days as stated.

Otherwise, it's gonna be new bike time sooner than I expected.

Yep. I had a lot of additional carbon buildup and the power valve chamber as well. I was running 32 to 1 with Yama lube mostly. 93 pump gas. It smoked a little bit, but yeah I'm thinking I need to change something up

The circled pitting is normal, theres an article on the Millenium site about it.
But that wear on the intake side is typically from debris. You should double check the intake tract and air filter.

This old KX has been mothballed a while, finally got it out to get the new cylinder set up.
