I am about to begin my winter build for 18/19. Just picked up the bike south of CHI for $1700.00. My goal is to build a race ready machine for far under the price of a brand new YZ. I will be building this with my sponsors help throughout the whole process. I am really fortunate to have these companies supporting me with these builds. I have a BUD Racing Spec bike in mind with a few in house companies (TK Motorworks & Speed Technologies) to get the tuning dialed in just right.

The plan is to have the build completed by Feb, to go and complete in the Kicker Arenacross in CHI. Then from there on its SX Futures races in INDY & Nashville.

Looking forward to the input and criticism along the way

Cheers!

After finally getting into it, I was immediately greeted by a few things that raised suspicion about the rest of the bike. Just in pulling the motor to replace a leaky water pump seal, I was able to find some quirks that I had not seen when looking over the bike before purchasing it. Cracked throttle housing, custom spacer for the exhaust & the additional breather vents for the power valve linkage, oh and the safety wire hose clamps were a nice touch too.

I have the clutch stop replacement, new spring, Boyesen Supercooler kit & water pump rebuild kit (Athena) being delivered today. With a few more 50 degree days left here in MI, I wanna get a chance to ride her the way she stands before I go "ape shit" with mods

Well after having an offer accepted for a new house the YZ was left on the back burner. That also helped with lead times and some of the parts to be shipped. Below is the list of changes that I made this last week:

2007 Clutch Stop Installed
New Water Pump Bearing and seals
Bud Racing Carbon IGN Cover
GYTR pressure plate
Hinson Inner hub
BUD Racing Clutch Kit
Boyeson SuperCooler Kit
Titanium Cylinder nuts
Zeta Magnetic Drain Plug
BUD Racing Shifter

FINALLYYYYYYYY!

Finally was able to get the motor over to TK Motorworks for the "rough draft" on the motor build. Still waiting for some TI parts from France to show up, along with some missing hardware for the CNC Clutch basket from BUD Racing.

Here's a peek at the "rough Draft" and some of the process along the way:

Any reason you went with BUD over something else like VHM? Does BUD have increased hp? Very new to this stuff sorry!

I found that there are a lot of the VHM heads out there for builds & wanted to go a different route. I work closely with John @ BUD in CA and he has helped with specs and info from BUD France. Have been a fan of the BUD team for some time now watching Marv & Dylan come up and wanted to build a 125 that coulda been a BUD Spec if the team had been on Yamaha instead of Kawi.

And they had a TI kit for the engine, so why the hell not

Will the bolt still fit in the thread if cerakote is baked on or do you typically run a threadchaser down it to clean it out.

Sorry, still very new to cerakote but very curious. Build looks amazing so far.

From the research I've done on oven cured cerakote the fact that the threads are coated as well will not affect the banjos threading in. Check out the link below to read up on the process...I find it very interesting and useful.
