This is the first time I've done a full build and I wanted to learn how to do everything without the rush of not having a bike to ride. I bought this bike in October for 1k which seemed fair at the time but it's been quite the project. It was left outside for an unknown amount of time which definitely didn't help.

These are after I pressure washed it sadly... It was spray painted all over and leaking oil from the drain bolt. I got it all tore down and opened the cylinder to check it out and of course it was toast.

So I sent the cylinder off to millennium to be repaired and got to tearing into the motor. This is the first time I've split cases but I do top ends on my 450 so I figured I could do it. I also got the frame powder coated metallic silver.

It had a hot rods crank which I didn't care for and I ended up replacing everything with oem parts. Unfortunately the case had been hit by a chain at some point and was cracked inside where the clutch actuator arm pivots as well as no washer behind the water pump impeller and it had ground into it. I decided to order new cases and outer clutch cover which definitely wasn't planned and cost quite a bit. I eventually got the motor all squared away and ended up getting the cylinder ported and head cut for c12 by Tom Morgan who did a great job as well as quick turn around time. I had planned to leave it all stock but I figured might as well make it rip.

Currently I have the bike to this point. Stripped swing arm and new bearings everywhere. I currently have kx pro circuit clamps as well as linkage for it.

I'm using 09 kx450f suspension for this bike, I have the forks figured out but I need to make the shock work by shortening it or switching the clevis. The stock suspension the chrome was flaking off which I've never even seen before. I'm currently waiting on some parts including the air box which had a hole busted in the bottom of it. Future plans are pro circuit works pipe and ti-2, green plastics with current fender/ plate, black rims laced to the stock hubs or possibly a new set with magnesium colored hubs, undecided on graphics leaning towards current pro circuit set. Now that this is up to date the posts will be much shorter I promise.

Nice post it up seems like the kx builds are taking over lol. I'd say the need for extra parts made up for the 1k price.

Oh gotcha you must have a big plan for it, are you doing a plastic conversion? Thanks but I have new air box on order already.

Yep. It's stupid how much I already have into this bike. But I've always loved 125s and always wanted a badass one

Nice I considered doing the plastic conversion since I needed some of the parts already but I was worried about changing the seat height and ergos. Should be sweet though haven't seen to many done yet looking forward to it.

Little bit of progress, I'm missing some parts for the carb still. I also found out the 09 kx450 shock isn't going to work if I shorten it enough I'll lose 1" of travel. I had to buy a new shaft for the stock shock which should arrive tomorrow then I'll order everything to set up and rebuild the suspension.

Rad build so far DB97. Why did you choose to go with the 09 KYB's instead of the Showa SFF Tac forks?

Also, are you sticking with the stock TMX38X carb or going with something else?

Thanks, the tac forks are from my 450 and I didn't like them at all. I'm about to put my 450 back to stock and sell it to get the 19 as well. Yeah just using the stock carb and jetting it, thought about a lectron but in Florida there is no elevation change lol.

What do you guys use to clean the engine cases/cylinder with? Building an 04 and the cases are pretty dirty and stained.

I had to buy new cases because of a crack, the cylinder was cleaned by millennium, and head cleaned by Tom Morgan.

Finally got some more parts in and made a little progress. Rebuilt the carb with all new hoses since it didn't even have them when I bought it. Cleaned and mounted the tank it had quite a bit of sand in it. I also got some of the controls done still have to rebuild brakes and mount a clutch perch. I picked up new in box a60 rims for $100 a piece so I'm going to buy magnesium colored hubs to lace them up. The suspension will be my next project I have all the parts.

Made some progress starting to get anxious. I rebuilt and revalved my shock with race tech gold valves first time doing it myself pretty happy on that. Finally was able to put the sub frame and air box on for good. I decided to go with 04 PC graphics and was able to find flo green front fenders and possibly a front plate. Still have to do the front forks hopefully this weekend. Waiting on my PC works pipe then I can bolt the exhaust on looking forward to that. Tomorrow I'm ordering talon hubs in magnesium color as well as all the plastics.

Finally got the exhaust and plastics mounted getting closer! I finished the forks last weekend, graphics are on order and hubs on the way. Just have to build the wheels and mount tires, finish the brakes going to get moto stuff rotors and caliper, chain and sprockets, as well as some carbon pieces. Still a decent expense for the rest so might be a few weeks but I might get impatient and buy them.

Originally I was going to put new team PC with all green plastics but I ended up just going 04 like most people are doing.

N-Style has black and white KYB's for the forks that are exact replicas of the works style ones, or the actual works style ones depending on which team.....
