Quick update. Transmission is in and shifts like butter, but I’m waiting on a crank to show up next week ( was sent an 05 OEM, didn’t work).

Also got a little more done on the chassis and ordered new plastics 👍

Incredible job on that RM! This may be the best looking RM250 I've ever seen!

Why wouldn’t the 05 work? I’m just curious because when you buy a prox or hot rods they use the same crank from 04 on.

Perhaps all the aftermarket cranks are set to the diameter of the 04 to work in all of them? The reason I know the 05 OEM won’t fit is that the crank itself is too large a diameter. I don’t know how much specifically but the 05 wouldn’t even drop into the Crank housing in the cases. I’ll report back on the Pro-X complete drop in I ordered. At $208 shipped its significantly cheaper than other options and Pro-X is a reputable company. It too was listed as 04-08

Dude beautiful job on that 250! Did you have to bend the radiator tabs out a bit to mate them to the RMZ shrouds?

Here is my latest update. Plastics and crank came in. ProX crank looks quality 👍

Looks great, did you cerakote the engine cases? I’m in the middle of doing a CR125 and debating on rattle canning the cases black or cerakote.

Ceracoated them. I’m about to have all the brake components done too. Definitely do not rattle can them, it’ll look terrible pretty quickly and then will be a pain in the ass to clean up

Ya I figured. A lot of resto guys just use Duplicolor rattle cans for the black CR cases. Seems to hold up okay but Cerakote is deff the way to go. Thanks

Well it’s been a while. Had some other priorities take precedence. i finally got the bottom end all together and I’m just waiting on the cylinder and a few other parts to get back from being coated. Very happy with it so far, and Legacy Carbon made me one badass engine cover! The quality on it is top notch.

Looks great! So did the prox crank fit good? Did you get a chance to compare it to the 05 oem crank? Are you able to get your seat to lock into the seat button with that tank? I had to raise mine to get it to work. I also was only able to get the tank bolts to line up if I took the rubber pads off the frame maybe I have a dud?

I wasn’t able to compare it side by side with the 05 OEM, but it does have a smaller diameter crank. It rolls flawlessly in the bearings. Overall I’m pretty impressed with the Pro-X crank. We will see how it holds up with the 144 kit, porting, and VHM head. Should put it to the test!

As for the seat, I had to raise the button that it slips into as well, and shave the rear fender slightly to get it to lock in. I haven’t messed with the shrouds too much but it looks like I may modify the brackets. They are beautiful tanks but do have minor flaws.

Got a little more done, waiting on the cylinder and brakes to get back to me from being coated before it all goes back together. In the meantime I got a few other little carbon bits on there, the reeds in, and the bottom end is now all complete and just waiting for the top end! It feels good to see this thing coming together finally!

Ryan, this thing is sick... Great work.

If you don't have anything set up for graphics yet, I would be honored to help finish off your project with a kit. @hm designs moto on FB or on IG @ hm_designs_moto. Hmu and ill see what I can do for you...

Couple more quick updates. Graphics and Lectron showed up. This bike got the 38mm HV, should be a ripper!

Only problem is now with the flow of the graphics I want to change the seat cover to blue sides/yellow center, opinions?

I agree. Blue sides/yellow top would go better with the graphic you have. Fantastic looking build!

Looks great I think your right blue sides and yellow top or even all blue with yellow ribs.

Here is the latest. It’s still missing some parts but it’s coming together.

I also plan on swapping to a bills cone and MX2 carbon combo
