Picked myself up a hell of a 2003 rolling chassis about a month ago. This thing was left outside for who knows how long. Rusted and chewed on by dogs. The airbox is trash from the dogs. It had a yz front and rear fender painted red haha. Cracked rear wheel. Missing nut on the swingarm bolt. Rear axle took forever to get out. Ending up having to lay it on its side and let penetrating oil sit in it, then hammer it out. Rear master cylinder screws were seized and had to be drilled out.

Found myself a 99 complete motor last week. Needs a new cylinder though. Crank is good with no play and the gears all move. Came with extra new crank. Still debating on splitting the cases or not to do a complete rebuild.

That bike looked sad with that rear fender haha!

I would recommend to change the crank when you have one and the engine already on the floor. Then you know for sure everything is ok and something dosen’t happen after 3hours of riding and you have to take the engine out again and change it anyways.

Worked on the frame for a good bit of the day yesterday. Mostly by hand with the red and green scotch brite pads and then in the hard to reach areas with the dremel.

Very nice job getting that frame cleaned up by hand, I can only imagine how many hours that took & calories burned. Looking forward to seeing your progress
