On the crank front - don't buy a new one. If what's in it is an OEM crank simply send it to Ken O'Conner raceing and he will rebuild it. A rebuilt OE crank is better then the aftermarket ones. I think he did mine for 140 bucks.

Stay away from a wiseco crank.

Got the bike all torn down , motor taken apart the cylinder and head are going to Eric Gorr to get the yz295 kit with a vertex power valve and vertex piston going to have it built to run 91 or 110 octane , the crank is going to crank works to have it balanced for the weight of the new piston , I got the yz450f rear end that one going to fit up tonight make sure everything fits right , I might have to modify the frame for the master cylinder to mount correct. Have some sss forks on the way looking for clamp options I know I’m going to have to modify the steering stops because I’m going to use 450f clamps , then it will go off to get powder coated thinking of doing a matte black or gloss black Photo

Sorry have been busy and haven’t updated anything on this build but the motor is still out getting work done to the cylinder at Eric Gorr and the crank is on it’s way back from crank works . The frame is at the powder coater getting a semi gloss black along with the subframe and lower triple clamp , a full Hinson clutch is on order the suspension should be done next week from the guys at enzo I can’t say anything but awesome things about Will and Ross over there they got my 17 crf450r Suspension so dialed in anyone that has got on my bike that owns a 17-18 crf450r or rx has had me take their suspension down to them they have a great setting for that bike I can’t wait to get my KYB SSS Suspension back!! I also got a bunch of awesome bolt on Parts, I can’t wait to get the motor back and frame so I can start building this bad boy , almost forgot I got a wr426 transmission I am going to swap 3rd-5th gears to make it a wise ratio transmission

I got the tank from zipty Racing it is made by Ims per Ty Davis’s specs it is a lower profile tank and got the axle blocks and quick pull handles for the wheel axles not sure if I’m going to run a dry break or screw cap yet

I used these wire brushes on a drill and they did most of the work then just used some red scotch bright pads , the fastest and easiest way I have ever done it . Go to a hardware store or order them online just either get brass ones or a really thin stainless one works amazing and gets in all the hard to get spots

That looks like a big assed crack in your case. Is it just a casting flaw?

The older I get, the faster I was.

It’s a flaw in the casting I cleaned that up so it’s not as noticeable

Couldn't agree more with what you said about Will and Ross. They do an amazing job!

I cant wait to see how this turns out. I'll be starting my own build here in the next few weeks

Thank you! Yeah, that's about what I did on mine, but yours looks better.
I'll have to step up my game! laughing (I have the '95 YZ250 long rod here in the Builds section.)

For sure, I think, the key is softer wire brushes and lower RPM on the drill.
