In May I decided to sell one of my low hr TC250s and with that cash in had same day I saw a 2002 YZ250 for good deal. It’s a green sticker bike so figured I’d freshen it up a little for a trail bike. As the rebuilding began I decided to do it up right and go for a FMF YZ250 that looks like once you would’ve seen at the races back in the day!

The bike is done now but figured I’d share pics of the build along the way and some finished photos.

Here’s the day I got the bike, then took it home for a good degreasing and decals removal. Lol at the mulisha graphics and all the decals.

This is the goal I had in mind when beginning the project

The motor felt tight and had good compression but figured to have it redone top to bottom by Lamson Motorsports. Ended up having the bottom end completely done and then had the cylinder ported, head milled and carb ported.

For all my builds I always use TCR Wheels for the wheel building. As always he didn’t disappoint on this set.

Looks good! I had an 04 back in the day that I loved. You need to find some matching forks for that shock Smile

Thanks! There’s a lot of cool builds out there nowadays I’m just a sucker for that early 2000s stuff so definitely was shooting to keep it correct for back then

Love it. Doing backgrounds?
I’ve got some cut outs from Era Moto I’m going to use, I want to keep it simple with the white back grounds and black numbers. Will post more pics after those are on there
