Over the weekend I tried my hand at coating some parts in Cerakote. After a trial or two on some old parts, I think these turned out pretty good. I can't wait to get everything installed on the bike.

How did you paint the raised letters? A brush?

I used a paint pen. The red isn't Cerakote, I thought it would make the calipers pop a little more.

Over the weekend I stripped the wheels and hubs. I coated with black Cerakote, I started reassembling the wheels late yesterday. I have the rear wheel laced, just need to true it. I think the wheels will look pretty good after I have everything back together.

If you can't find a plating shop to remove the nickle from the pipe (was told by some that the carbon and oil will ruin the solution) you can get it sand blasted off. High pressure (250 psi) and it will come right off. Then wet sand and scotch bright and wd40. Here's one that was nickle coated.

Well my bike is pretty much done. Cerakoted hubs, calipers and carriers, FMF and Doma exhaust, new tires, bearings, and so much more. I would love to find a set of carbon fiber frame guards and ignition cover. If any one has a lead on those please let me know. Don't mind the flat rear tire in the pictures, I pinched two tubes putting it on and decided I had had enough. I hate changing tires.

It runs great. I'm going to race it for the first time at the end of the month and I plan on racing it in a couple more races this year. So far parts seem pretty easy to come by, the motor is pretty much the same one that they used until 2016, the hardest parts to find so far has been an exhaust and the aftermarket carbon bits. The parts fiche for this shows both 45 and 48mm forks, I got lucky and this bike has the 48's. I still have a few small things I would like to do to it, carbon ignition cover, billet triple clamps and maybe a Doma expansion chamber. The Doma exhaust and the ignition cover has been the hardest parts to find.

Looking good. If I could find a Doma pipe for mine I would put GL 111 number plates on mine. I have Ryan Hughes number plates for it now.

I found a few more cool pieces that I added to the bike. A carbon fiber fuel guard and a carbon fiber chain guide.

About those silver front fenders, I think US factory team ran them in only 2001. In 2002 bikes where completely orange. A year later in 2003 McGrath had silver front fender in his BUD Light 250SX but Langston and other KTM factory riders had completely orange plastics.

One of the best looking bikes ever, imo.

I haven't rode this bike enough to hurt it yet, but I stripped the bronze color off my 2017 TE 250 ignition cover and coated it black. Where my foot rubs it the coating has come off. I think it still looks better than the bronze cover though.

From what I gather, cerakote is considered pretty durable given how thin of a coating it is - however, it's still a very thin coating, so should really avoided for any application that sees a lot of surface-to-surface contact, like outer clutch covers. Inner clutch cases, however, are commonly done - and usually look fantastic

I agree, that bike was the reason I went and bought a 2003 125sx when they came out. Those 125's were rockets with pogo sticks for suspension lol

Hi! Do you still have that n-style seat cover that was on your bike from the beginning? I have been looking for that one for years!
